PADGITT, ABRAHAM, Co B, private, enlisted by L. D. Crockett for 3 years in Paducah, KY on 2/22/64 and mustered at Columbus, KY on 6/14/64 at age 20.  He was 5’10” tall, fair complexion, black eyes, dark hair, a farmer, born in Massac Co, IL.  He received a $300 bounty for enlistment.  Padgitt was present in May and June of 1864 which indicates he was not surrendered with the regiment at Union City, TN on 3/24/64.  The men not captured were stationed mostly in Columbus, KY in the summer of 1864 and in Paducah, KY in the fall.  Padgitt deserted on 12/25/64 at Paducah but seems to have returned in time to be honorably discharged with the regiment when it disbanded at Nashville, TN on 8/9/65.  MR #1282

PAGE, WILLIAM C, Companies C & A, private, enlisted by Captain Asa Hayes for 3 years in Lexington, TN on 8/28/62 and mustered on 9/5/62 at age 19/25.  He was 5’9” tall, light complexion, grey eyes, light hair, a farmer, born in Humphreys Co, TN.  He received a $100 bounty for enlistment.  Captured and paroled with the regiment at the battle of Trenton on 12/20/1862, he most likely spent time in parole camp at Camp Chase in Columbus, OH along with Colonel Hawkins and others of the regiment awaiting exchange.  Page deserted in October 1863 and it was thought he might be found at Decaturville, TN.  He was present for duty in May and June of 1864 which indicates he was not surrendered with the regiment at Union City, TN on 3/24/64.  The men not captured were stationed mostly in Columbus, KY in the summer of 1864 and in Paducah, KY in the fall.  He was in the hospital in Columbus, KY at some point.  There is no date of discharge in the muster rolls.  Pagitt applied for and received an invalid pension in 1891.  He died on 5/15/1930 in Cullman, AL.  MR #1283

PALMER, D(ANIEL) P, Co I, private, enlisted for 3 years in Huntingdon, TN on 1/4/64 and never mustered.  He was about 19 at enlistment and received a bounty.  Presumed captured with the regiment at Union City, TN on 3/24/64, he was imprisoned in Andersonville Prison in Georgia where he died of unknown cause on either 7/31/64 or 8/16/64 (both dates given).  He was most likely buried in the Andersonville National Cemetery, grave number unknown.  He seems to have been the son of Daniel and Lucinda Guess Palmer of Carroll Co, TN.  MR #1285

PALMER, E(DMOND) B, Co I, private, enlisted for 3 years in Carroll Co, TN on 9/25/63 and mustered at Union City, TN on 12/15/63 at age 22 (census).  He furnished his own horse and equipment.  Presumed captured with the regiment at Union City, TN on 3/24/64, Palmer was imprisoned in Andersonville Prison in Georgia where he died on 7/26/64 of unknown cause.  His widow, Tennessee B Carrington Palmer (m. 1861), applied for a pension in 1867.  Palmer was the son of Amey (female) Palmer (1850 census). PALMER, WILLIAM G(REEN), Co E, private/quartermaster sergeant, enlisted for 3 years in Huntingdon, TN on 8/1/62 and mustered at Humboldt, TN on 9/24/62.  He was captured and paroled at Lexington, TN in December 1862 but failed to report to parole camp at Camp Chase in Columbus, OH.  He was considered a deserter from 3/30/63.  In later years his request of an honorable discharge was denied.  MR #1287

PARIS (PARRIS), HENRY S, Co K, private, enlisted for 3 years by Sergeant Ford in Gibson Co, TN on 5/17/63 at age 25.  He was 5’10” tall, light complexion, blue eyes, dark hair, a farmer, born in Gibson Co, TN.  Presumed captured with the regiment at Union City, TN on 3/24/64, he was first a prisoner in Andersonville Prison in Georgia but was later moved to Millen, GA where he died of disease, exact date unknown but thought to be about 9/12/64. He was buried in Section 23 #2048.   His widow, Alcy Edwards Paris, applied for a pension in 1867 and lived in Gibson Co, TN near the Bradford PO in the 1890 veterans’ census.  Paris was the son of John and Nancy Morris Paris.  A family story says that he and a brother shook hands in the middle of the road and went off to fight on different sides.  MR #1289

PARISH, SAMUEL H, Co D, private, enlisted for 1 year in Carroll Co, TN on 8/4/62 and mustered at Trenton, TN on 9/24/62 at age 34.  Captured and paroled with the regiment at the battle of Trenton on 12/20/1862, he failed to report to parole camp at Camp Chase in Columbus, OH.  Some way, in later years, he managed to get the desertion removed and was honorably discharged retro to 10/26/63.  Parish was married to Mary Umstead and in 1890 lived in the Maple Creek Community of Carroll Co, TN according to the 1890 veterans’ census.  He applied for and received an invalid pension in 1890.   He died on 4/12/1906 and is buried in the Mt. Comfort Cemetery in Carroll Co, TN.  He appears to have been the son of John Sihon and Sarah Adams Parish and the uncle of Sion Parish of Co D.  MR #1290

PARISH, SION, Companies D & I, private.  He enlisted for 1 year in Co D in Carroll Co, TN on 8/14/62 and mustered at Trenton, TN on 9/24/62 at age 18.  He was 5’9” tall, fair complexion, dark eyes, light hair, a farmer, born in Carroll Co, TN to Brodie and Margaret Rogers Parish. He most likely spent time in parole camp at Columbus, OH (Camp Chase) after the battles of Lexington and Trenton in December 1862.  Sent to Nashville in September 1863, Parish mustered out at Saulsbury, TN on 10/25/63.  He re-enlisted in the military in Co G, 2nd Tennessee Mounted Infantry, a unit raised by Major Milton Hardy, formerly of Co G, 7th Tennessee.  It is doubtful he was ever called up.  Parish became a resident of Magnolia, IL then re-enlisted, this time in Co I, 7th Tennessee at Paducah, KY on 1/6/65 at age 20.  He was discharged with the regiment when it disbanded at Nashville, TN on 8/9/65.  He married first Elizabeth Jane Montgomery then Lucy Bell Jordan.  In 1890 he lived in Decatur Co, TN and in 1897 joined the Grand Army of the Republic (GAR) while living in Poplar Springs, TN.  Parish applied for an invalid pension.  He died on 3/28/1915 at Parsons, TN and is buried in Salem Cemetery in Decatur Co, TN.  His widow, Lucy B Parish, applied for a pension in 1916.  MR #1291 & 1292

PARK (PARKS), JAMES, Co E, private, enlisted for 3 years in Huntingdon, TN on 6/29/62 and mustered at Humboldt , TN on 8/11/62 at about 28 (census).  He was a brick mason by profession and furnished his own horse and equipment.  The New York Times said he was a convalescent taken from the hospital in Paducah, KY in March 1864 (by Forrest) and sent to Andersonville Prison in Georgia.  He died there of debilitus on either 7/15/64 or 8/30/64 (both given).  His wife, Emily Worrell Park, applied for a widow’s pension in 1868.  In 1890 she lived near the Buena Vista, TN Post Office in Carroll Co, TN.  MR #1293

PARK, JOHN N(EWTON), Co B, 1st lieutenant, enlisted for 3 years in Carroll Co, TN on 8/15/62 and mustered at Humboldt, TN on 8/26/62.  There is only one page in his file and it contains no further military information.  Park was born to Joshua N and Catherine Palmer Park on 10/29/1825 so he must have been about 37 at the time of enlistment.  He married to Elizabeth Roland in 1851.  Park died on 8/21/1909 and is buried in the Park Cemetery in Carroll Co, TN.  MR #1294

PARK, R(OSS) T, Co I, private, enlisted for 3 years in Carroll Co, TN on 9/15/63 and mustered in Union City, TN on 12/15/63.  He received a $300 bounty for enlistment.  Presumed captured with the regiment at Union City, TN on 3/24/64, he was imprisoned in Andersonville Prison in Georgia where he died on 8/19/64 of unknown cause.  No other information is included in the muster rolls.  Park would have been about 17 years old at enlistment.  His father applied for a dependent parent pension in 1869 but it was not granted.  MR #1295

PARK, ROBERT W(ILSON), Companies A & I, private, enlisted by Captain King for 3 years at Huntingdon, TN on 1/5/64 and mustered at Paducah, KY on 5/14/64 at age 22 (b. 2/24/1838).  He was 5’8” tall, fair complexion, blue eyes, black hair, a farmer, born in Carroll Co, TN.  He received a $300 bounty for enlistment.  There is no evidence in the muster rolls that he was surrendered with the regiment at Union City TN on 3/24/64.  The men not captured were stationed mostly in Columbus, KY in the summer of 1864 and in Paducah, KY in the fall.  He was discharged with the regiment when it disbanded at Nashville, TN on 8/9/65.  Park applied for an invalid pension in 1877.  He died on 9/7/1887 and is buried in the Horton-Park Cemetery in Carroll Co, TN with a military marker.  His wife, Martha Jane Cole, lived in Hollow Rock, TN in the 1890 census.  She applied for a widow’s pension in 1889.  Park was the son of Joshua and Sarah Griffis Park.  MR #1296

PARK(ER), HENRY O, Co G, private, enlisted for 1 year in Carroll Co, TN on 8/5/62 at age 18.  He was 5’7” tall, dark complexion, black eyes, dark hair, a farmer, born in Carroll Co, TN.  Captured and paroled at the battle of Trenton, TN on 12/20/62, he spent time in parole camp at Columbus, OH (Camp Chase).  Sent to Nashville in September 1863, he mustered out at Saulsbury, TN on 10/25/63.  In 1890 Parker lived near the Gleason Post Office in Weakley Co, TN and in 1891 he applied for an invalid pension under the name Henry O Parker.  Parker died on 1/20/1924 at Wynnsburg, TN and is buried in the Crockett Chapel Cemetery in Lake Co, TN with a military marker.  MR #1298

PARKE(R), LUTHER R(ICE), Co B, private, enlisted and mustered at Paducah, KY on 9/20/64 at age 18.  He was 5’8 ½” tall, dark complexion, black eyes, black hair, a farmer, born in Graves Co, KY.  He received a $100 bounty for enlistment.  Parker was discharged with the regiment when it disbanded at Nashville, TN on 8/9/65.  He applied for an invalid pension under the name Luther R Parker while living in Missouri.  MR #1297

PARKER, ROBERT, Co B, private, enlisted for 3 years in Columbus, KY on 7/14/64 at age 16.  He was 5’3” tall, light complexion, hazel eyes, dark hair, a farmer, born in Obion Co, TN.  He spent time on detached duty away from the regiment.  Little is in his record except that he was discharged with the regiment when it disbanded at Nashville, TN on 8/9/65.  MR #1299

PARKER, WESLEY, Companies H & C, private/1st sergeant, enlisted by Lieutenant Roberson for 3 years in Union City, TN on 12/1/63 and mustered on 12/6/63 at Columbus, KY.  He was 5’6” tall, dark complexion, blue eyes, dark hair, a farmer, born in Gibson Co, TN.  Parker became a sergeant on 6/24/64.  On 5/7/64 he was at Cairo, IL, an escaped prisoner.  This suggests that he managed to escape from Forrest’s troops after the regiment was captured at Union City, TN on 3/24/64.  The men who escaped or were not captured were stationed mostly in Columbus, KY in the summer of 1864 and in Paducah, KY in the fall.  Parker was discharged with the regiment when it disbanded at Nashville, TN on 8/9/65 at age 29.  He applied for an invalid pension in 1890 while living in Arkansas and died on 4/10/1911 in Havana, AR.  His widow, Sarah E Parker, applied for a pension also from Arkansas.  MR #1300

PARKER, WILLIAM G(REEN), Co I, private, enlisted for 1 year and mustered at Paducah, KY on 1/10/65 at age 18.  He was 5’5” tall, fair complexion, black eyes, dark hair, a farmer, born in Carroll Co, TN.  At the time of his enlistment he was a refugee resident of Magnolia, IL.  In March of 1865 he was on guard at the corral.  He was discharged with the regiment when it disbanded at Nashville, TN on 8/9/65.  He married Arena Evelyn Adams and owned a business in Cedar Grove, Carroll Co, TN. He applied for an invalid pension in 1892.   Parker was the representative for the county in the Tennessee Legislature when he died suddenly in Cedar Grove, TN on 12/6/1916 at about 69 years old.  He is buried in Fergerson’s Cemetery and has a military marker.  His wife applied for a widow's pension in 1916.  His parents were Turner R and Elizabeth Davis Parker.  MR #1301

PARRETT, JOHN, Companies H & I, bugler /private, enlisted for 3 years and mustered at Trenton, TN on 10/9/62.  Captured and paroled with the regiment at the battle of Trenton on 12/20/1862, he failed to report to parole camp at Camp Chase in Columbus, OH and was listed as AWOL from 12/20/62.  He might be the Sergeant John Parrett originally buried in Grand Junction, TN but later moved to the Corinth (MS) National Cemetery.  MR #1303

PARRETT, REUBEN L, Co H, private, enlisted in Lexington, TN on 9/24/62 and mustered at Trenton, TN on 9/28/62.  There is no further information in his muster rolls.  MR #1304

PARSONS, PLEASANT K, Companies E & B, Captain, enlisted for 3 years in Huntingdon, TN on 6/25/62 and mustered at Humboldt, TN on 8/11/62 at age 40 (born 8/14/1826).  A lieutenant in the Mexican War, he raised Co E of the 7th Tennessee.  Parsons escaped capture at the battles of Lexington and Trenton, TN and served along the Tennessee/Mississippi border with the detachment during 1863.  Surrendered at Union City, TN on 3/24/64, he escaped from his captors.  When the detachment reorganized he became captain of Co B at Columbus, KY.  After being court-martialed in 1864, he was honorably discharged with the regiment on 8/7/62.  Parsons moved to Green Co, Arkansas and became a merchant and a physician.  He died on 3/5/1894 and is buried in the Providence Cemetery in Union, Green Co, AR.  Married to Elizabeth Jane Bibbs, he was the son of Henry Parsons.  He was also brother in law to Thomas Hampton and uncle to Irving Hampton, both of Co G.  MR #1309

PASTEUR, THOMAS E, Co B, sergeant, enlisted for 3 years in Carroll Co, TN on 8/12/62 and mustered in Benton Co, TN on 8/17/62 at age 25.  He furnished his own horse and equipment.  Presumed captured with the regiment at Union City, TN on 3/24/64, Pasteur was a prisoner in Andersonville Prison in Georgia before being moved to prison in Florence, SC.  Paroled through North East Ferry, NC on 2/27/65, he entered a hospital in 1865 due to chronic diarrhea.  His brother, James Pasteur, was the contact person.  Pasteur continued to be ill in Johnson Co, IL.  He mustered out at Camp Chase, OH on 6/21/65.  A resident of Carroll Co, TN in 1860, he was the son of Thomas A and Ann R Pasteur.  MR #1310

PATE, EDMUND, private, enlisted for 1 year in Carroll Co, TN on 8/5/62 at age 21/24.  He was AWOL by 1/20/63 and there is no further information in his record.  MR #1311

PATE, JOSEPH B, Co G, private, enlisted for 1 year in Friendship, TN on 9/15/62 and mustered at Humboldt, TN at age 32.  He furnished his own horse and equipment and was a resident of Dyer Co, TN at enlistment.  He was appointed hospital steward on 3/10/63.  Pate served out his one year enlistment and mustered out at Saulsbury, TN on 10/25/63.  There was a widow and a minor’s pension filed in 1890 from Tennessee with Bettie Pate as guardian.  MR #1312

PATE, THOMAS I, Co C, private, enlisted for 3 years at Union City, TN on 12/20/63 and mustered at Paducah, KY the same day at age 25.  He was 5’6” or 6’2” tall (both given), fair complexion, blue eyes, light hair, born in Williamson Co, TN, a farmer.  He was due a $300 bounty for enlistment.  Presumed captured with the regiment at Union City, TN on 3/24/64, he was a prisoner in Andersonville Prison in Georgia.  Exchanged through Savannah, GA and Charleston, SC in Nov/Dec of 1864, he was sent to the hospital in Annapolis, MD.  His muster was complete on 12/14/64.  Pate applied for an invalid pension in 1883 while living in Tennessee.  In 1890 he lived near the Franklin Post Office in Williamson Co, TN.  His wife, Sarah J Pate, applied for a widow’s pension in 1892, also while living Tennessee.  MR #1313

PATTERSON, ISIAH (IZOR) D, Companies K & C, private, enlisted by Captain Beatty and Lieutenant Wallace in Scotts Hill, TN on 5/3/63 at age 18 (b. 2/22/1844).  He has two description lists and was either 5’9”/5’7”, fair or light complexion, blue eyes, dark or light hair, born in either Bedford Co, TN or Henderson Co, TN, a farmer.  Presumed captured with the regiment at Union City, TN on 3/24/64, Patterson was a prisoner in Andersonville Prison in Georgia.  He “escaped from the rebels” (probably from one of the smaller prisons after leaving Andersonville) and returned to Union lines on 12/2/64.  He was due 289 days of rations.  He was discharged with the regiment when it disbanded at Nashville, TN on 8/9/65.  On August 8, 1890 Patterson applied for an invalid pension.  In 1890s he lived in Scotts Hill, Henderson Co, TN and was a member of Grand Army of the Republic (GAR) Post #65.  Patterson died about 1903 and is buried in New Hope Cemetery in Henderson Co, TN with a military marker.  His widow, Ginntie Patterson, applied for a pension in March 1903.  (See his brother, Robert H Patterson, for an almost identical military record.)  MR #1315 

PATTERSON, ISAIAH M, Co C, private, enlisted for 1 year in Paducah, KY and mustered on 1/6/65 at age 18.  He 5’4” or 5’5” tall, fair complexion, blue eyes, light hair, a farmer, born in Decatur Co, TN.  He was due a $66.33 bounty for enlistment.  Patterson was a refugee resident of Magnolia, IL at the time of his enlistment.  He served only seven months and was discharged with the regiment when it disbanded at Nashville, TN on 8/9/65, with a notation appended that he was only 16.  Patterson applied for an invalid pension in 1887.  In the 1890s he lived near the Dunbar Post Office in Decatur Co, TN and was a member of the Grand Army of the Republic (GAR) Post #65.  In 1910 Patterson lived in the 1st District of Benton Co, TN.  He died in Decatur Co, TN on 11/25/1914.  His wife, the former Margaret J Montgomery, applied for a widow’s pension in 1914.  MR #1316   

PATTERSON, ROBERT H, Companies K & C, private, enlisted by Lieutenant Wallace for 3 years in Scotts Hill, TN on 5/3/63 at age 18.  He has two description lists and was either 5’9” or 5’7”, fair or light complexion, blue eyes, dark or light hair, born in either Bedford Co, TN or Henderson Co, TN, a farmer.  Presumed captured with the regiment at Union City, TN on 3/24/64, he was a prisoner in Andersonville Prison in Georgia.  He “escaped from the rebels” (probably from one of the smaller prisons) and returned on 12/2/64, and was present Jan/Feb 1865.  He was due 259 days of rations.  He was discharged with the regiment when it disbanded at Nashville, TN on 8/9/65.  Patterson joined the Grand Army of the Republic (GAR) Post #65 in 1889 and applied for an invalid pension in 1890.  At the time he lived near the Thurman Post Office in Decatur Co, TN.  He died on 11/28/1909 and is buried in the Corinth National Cemetery in Mississippi with a military marker.  His widow, Mary A Creacy Patterson, applied for a pension in 1909. (See his brother, Isiah D Patterson, for an almost identical military record.)  MR #1317

PATTERSON, (WILLIAM) STOKELY, Co B, private, enlisted for 3 years in Carroll Co, TN on 8/12/62 and mustered in Benton Co, TN on 8/17/62 at age 22.  He was 5’8 ½” tall, fair complexion, blue eyes, dark hair, a farmer, born in Wilson Co, TN.  He furnished his own horse and equipment for one month.  Captured and paroled with the regiment at the battle of Trenton on 12/20/1862, he most likely spent time in parole camp at Camp Chase in Columbus, OH along with Colonel Hawkins and others of the regiment awaiting exchange.  There is no further military information in his files.  His widow, Rebecca French Patterson (m. 1856), filed for and received a pension.  She thought Patterson died at Andersonville, or on a train, from camp fever.  There is a minor’s pension for John T Patterson.  Stokely and Rebecca Patterson were residents of Manleyville, Henry Co, TN in 1860.  MR #1318

PEARSON, JAMES N(ATHAN), Co G, private, enlisted for 1 year in Carroll Co, TN on 8/5/62 at age 18.  He was 5’9 ½” tall, light complexion, blue eyes, light hair, a farmer, born in Henderson Co, TN (3/25/1845) and a resident thereof.  He furnished his own horse and equipment.  Captured and paroled at the battle of Trenton, TN on 12/20/62, he spent time in parole camp at Columbus, OH (Camp Chase).  Sent to Nashville in September 1863, he mustered out at Saulsbury, TN on 10/25/63.  Pearson died on 6/15/1887 and is buried in the Pearson Cemetery in Henderson Co, TN.  His widow was Amanda Meals Pearson applied for and received a pension.  His parents were Peter and Mary Ann Pritchard Pearson of Henderson Co, TN.  MR #1320

PEARSON, JOHN C, Co G.  This man applied for an invalid pension in 1890 but it was denied.  He has no muster rolls.

PECK, FRANCIS M, Co C, private, enlisted for 3 years by Lieutenant Cleary of the 13th/14th (Bradford’s) Tennessee Cavalry at Union City, TN and mustered there on 11/25/63.  He was 5’5” tall, dark complexion, blue eyes, dark hair, a farmer, born in Buncombe Co, SC (NC?).  Peck received a bounty for enlistment.  He was one of the 19 men of the 13th/14th Tennessee Cavalry who were not captured with their regiment at Fort Pillow, TN on 4/12/64.  They were temporarily attached to the 7th Tennessee detachment stationed at Columbus, KY in the summer of 1864.  These men left the 7th Tennessee to become part of Co E, 6th Tennessee Cavalry.  Peck was captured at Johnsonville, TN on 9/27/64.  Apparently he returned as he became part of Co E, 6th TN Cavalry on 9/5/65.  MR #1321 

PEAGRAM (PEGRAM), WILLIAM A, Co A, private, enlisted by Major Reaves for 3 years at Lexington, TN on 8/9/62 and mustered at Jackson, TN on 8/19/62 at age 19.  He was 5’10” tall, fair complexion, grey eyes, light hair, a farmer, born in Henderson Co, TN.  He furnished his own horse and equipment worth $100.  Peagram lost his horse at the battle of Trenton, when he was presumably captured and paroled with the regiment at the battle of Trenton on 12/20/1862.  He spent time in parole camp at Camp Chase in Columbus, OH and was sick there with acute rheumatism.  He lost another horse at the battle of Union City, TN on 3/24/64.  Taken to Andersonville Prison in Georgia, he died on either 10/1/63, or 4/1864 (both given) of scrobutus.  He was buried in grave #10304 in the Andersonville National Cemetery. The son of James J and Sophia Peagram of Henderson Co, TN, James J Peagram received $160 due to the soldier after his death.  William Peagram's mother applied for a dependent parent pension in 1890.  MR #1322

PENDERGRASS, JOHN W(ESLEY), Co G, private, enlisted for 1 year in Carroll Co, TN on 8/5/62 at age 22 (b. 6/10/1839 in Chatham Co, NC) and sworn in at Paducah, KY on 12/29/63.  A resident of Carroll Co, TN in 1860, Pendergrass was a refugee resident of Magnolia, IL at the time of his enlistment.  He had dark eyes, light hair, fair or dark complexion, was 5’9 or 11” tall and a farmer.  He furnished his own horse and equipment.  There is no evidence as to whether he showed up at parole camp (Camp Chase, OH) after the battles of Lexington and Trenton, TN in December 1862.  He was present, however, to be mustered out with the one year enlistments on 10/25/63 at Saulsbury, TN.  Pendergrass re-enlisted in the 2nd TN Mounted Infantry Co G and then returned to the 7th Tennessee in Co I at Paducah, KY on 1/6/65.  He was discharged with the regiment when it disbanded at Nashville, TN on 8/9/65.  He joined the Grand Army of the Republic (GAR) in 1892.  Married 1st to Elizabeth Cerena Kirby and in 1891 to Mary Matilda Tate, Pendergrass was the brother of William Manley Pendergrass, also of Co G.  They were the sons of Manly P. and Martha Pendergrass.  He applied for a pension in 1912 and died near the Yuma, TN Post Office on 6/15/1917.  He is buried in the Parker’s Cross Roads Cemetery in Henderson Co, TN.  MR #1323 & 132

PENNINGTON, MONROE, Co C.  This soldier is the same person as Nathan M Lane.  He also joined the 118th IL and the 15th KY Cavalry and may have changed his name to either collect bounties or because he was AWOL.  He applied for an invalid pension in 1890 and died on 8/27/1917 in Danville, IL.  His muster roll record is under the Nathan M Lane alias.

PENDERGRASS, WILLIAM M, Co G, enlisted for 1 year in Carroll Co, TN on 8/5/62 at age 18 (b. 4/10/1843).  He was 5’10” tall, light complexion, hazel eyes, light hair, a farmer, born in Calhoan (sic) Co, TN (pension application says Hillsboro, Chatham Co, NC) on 4/10/1843.  Captured and paroled at the battle of Trenton, TN on 12/20/62, he spent time in parole camp at Columbus, OH (Camp Chase).  Sent to Nashville in September 1863, he mustered out at Saulsbury, TN on 10/25/63.  He married Mary Murphy in 1866 and resided in Henderson Co, TN in 1870, Carroll Co, TN by 1880, then on to Arkansas the same year.  The family moved to Detroit Post Office, Red River Co, Texas in February 1909.  He received a Union pension.  Pendergrass died on 12/12/1915 and is buried in Mt. Ida Cemetery in Sevier Co, Arkansas with his wife, who died in 1905.  MR #1324

PERDEW (PERDUE), IRWIN (ELLERT) T, Companies F, A & I, private, enlisted for 1 year in Co F at Trenton, TN on 9/24/62 at age 20, with the consent of his parents.  He was 5’10 ½” tall, fair complexion, grey eyes, light hair, a farmer, born in Maury Co, TN but a resident of Carroll Co, TN in 1860.  Captured and paroled at the battle of Trenton, TN on 12/20/62, he spent time in parole camp at Columbus, OH (Camp Chase).  Sent to Nashville in September 1863, he mustered out at Saulsbury, TN on 10/25/63.  Perdew was a refugee resident of Brinfield, IL when he re-enlisted for 1 year at Paducah, KY on 10/20/64 at age 22.  His description list was the same except that his eyes were said to be blue.  He transferred from Co A to I.  There is no further information in his muster rolls about his 2nd enlistment. He applied for an invalid pension in 1890 and died on 11/7/1912 in McCracken Co, KY.  Perdew was the son of William C (Co F) and Matilda Perdew of Carroll Co, TN. MR #1332 & 1335

PERDEW, JOHN, Companies A & I, private/corporal, enlisted for 1 year in Paducah, KY on 10/20/64 at age 24.  He was 5’10” tall, fair complexion, blue eyes, light hair, a farmer, born in Murray (Maury) Co, TN but a resident of Carroll Co, TN in 1860.  At the time of his enlistment, however, Perdew was a refugee resident of Brinfield, IL.  Noted as present in November and December of 1864, he transferred from A to I and was made corporal in 1865.  He was discharged with the regiment when it disbanded at Nashville, TN on 8/9/65.  Perdew applied for and received an invalid pension.  Perdew was the son of William C (Co F) and Matilda Perdew and a brother to Irwin Perdew, also of companies A & I.  MR #1333

PERDU (PERDEW), WILLIAM (WALTER) C, Co F, private, enlisted for 1 year in Carroll Co, TN on 9/20/62 at age 41.  He was AWOL from Jackson, TN from 2/28/63.  A request for an honorable discharge was denied at a later date.  Perdew was in Maury Co, TN in 1850 and Carroll Co, TN in 1860.  He is thought to be buried on his old farm in the Perdue Cemetery on Enterprise Road in Maury Co, TN but without a marker of any variety.  Perdew was the father of John and Irwin Perdew, also of the 7th Tennessee.  MR #1336

PERRY, ALLEN M, Co M, private, enlisted for 3 years in Clarksburg, TN in August of 1863 at age 18.  Presumed captured with the regiment at Union City, TN on 3/24/64, he was a prisoner in Andersonville Prison in Georgia then was transferred to Savannah, GA where he died on 11/1/64 of unknown cause.  The New York Times, which had the Savannah hospital list, gave his death date as 10/23/64, which is most likely correct.  He may have been the son of Felix and Anna L Justice of Carroll Co, TN.  There appears to be a plaque for him (A M Perry) on the gate of Hickman Cemetery.  MR #1338

PETTIGREW, ALFRED, Co D, private, enlisted for 1 year in Carroll Co, TN on 8/14/62 and mustered at Trenton, TN on 9/24/62 at age 29 (b. April 1832).  He mustered out at Saulsbury, TN on 10/25/63 at the end of his one year enlistment.  Pettigrew married Lucinda Hollowell in 1862 in Benton Co, TN.  He took his letter from Shiloh Baptist Church in 1874 and lived near the Holladay, TN Post Office in 1890.  He complained of a double hernia and heart trouble in the 1890 veterans’ census.  Pettigrew died on 7/17/1926 at Parsons, TN and is buried in the Adams Cemetery in Benton Co, TN with a military marker.  He appears to have been the son of Robert and Ann Pettigrew.  MR #1339

PETTY, WESLEY, Co A, private, enlisted for 3 years in Jackson, TN on 8/18/62 at age 17 and deserted  by 4/11/63.  Petty seems to have been the son of Jackson and Mary Petty of Henderson Co, TN.  MR #1340
