LACY (LACEY), WILLIAM S B, Co I, private/corporal, enlisted by Lieutenant Murray for 3 years in Huntingdon, TN on 11/29/63 and mustered at Paducah, KY on 11/29/63 at age 23.  He was 5’8” tall, fair complexion, grey eyes, light hair, a farmer, born in Carroll Co, TN.  He was due a $302 bounty for enlistment.  Presumed captured with the regiment at Union City, TN on 3/24/64, Lacy spent time in Andersonville Prison in Georgia.  Exchanged through Savannah, GA on 11/19/64, he remained in the military hospital in Annapolis, MD in November and December 1864.  Lacy was appointed corporal on 2/19/65 but apparently remained ill and entered the military hospital in Jeffersonville, IN with chronic diarrhea.  He was discharged through Louisville, KY on 6/23/65.  The son of Joseph Parker and Nancy Churchwell Lacey of Huntingdon, TN, he married Ritter K. Snowden in 1866.  He applied for an invalid pension on 9/4/1869, but died of tuberculosis about 1870.  He is buried in Liberty All Cemetery in Carroll Co, TN and has a military marker.  MR #999

LAMBERT, JAMES (A), Co I, private/corporal, enlisted and mustered at Paducah, KY on 1/6/65 at age 19.  At the time of enlistment Lambert was a refugee resident of Snachwine, IL.  He was 5’10” tall, fair complexion, blue eyes, dark hair, a farmer, born in Tishomingo Co, MS (10/19/1846).  Previously a member of Co E, 1st Alabama Cavalry from 6/1/63 to 8/15/64, he was a prisoner of war in Richmond, VA  from 8/6/63 to 3/15/64.  Lambert was appointed corporal in the 7th Tennessee on 2/19/65.  He was discharged with the regiment when it disbanded at Nashville, TN on 8/9/65.  By the 1890 veterans’ census he was in Ellis Co, Texas.  He died on 1/20/1923 in Sabinal, Uvalde Co, TX.  He might be the son of Josiah and Avis Willis Lambert.  MR #1001

LAMBERT, THOMAS, Co I, private, enlisted for 3 years at Union City, TN on 11/20/63.  He went AWOL on 2/29/64.  There is no more information in the muster rolls.  MR #1002

LAMMONS (LEMMONS), ARCHIBALD H, Co F, private enlisted by Lieutenant Hawkins for 1 year and mustered at Trenton, TN on 9/24/62 at age 21/23.  He was 5’9” tall, fair complexion, blue eyes, light hair, a farmer, born in Carroll Co, TN to Edward and Eliza Lemmons.  Captured and paroled at either the battle of Lexington or Trenton, TN in late December 1862, Lemmons spent time in parole camp at Columbus, OH (Camp Chase).  He contracted typhoid fever on 8/17/63.  He mustered out at Camp Chase on 9/26/63 due to expiration of service.  Lemmons, a resident of Carroll Co, TN, married Mary C Whit in 1867.  He applied for an invalid pension on 9/3/1890.  Buried in Stanford Cemetery in Carroll Co, TN, he has a military marker but it has no dates.  The son of Edward and Eliza Lemmons, he was brother to William C Lemmons, also of Co F.  MR #1003

LAMMONS (LEMMONS), WILLIAM C, Co F, private, enlisted for 1 year and mustered at Trenton, TN on 9/24/62 at age 25/33/31.  He was 6’1 ½” tall, fair complexion, blue eyes, light hair, a farmer, born in Carroll Co, TN and a resident thereof.  Captured and paroled with the regiment at the battle of Trenton, TN on 12/20/1862, he had orders to report to Camp Chase in Columbus, OH.  He contracted typhoid fever in 8/19/63 and mustered out at the end of his one year enlistment on 9/26/63.  He married L F White in 1872 and Nancy E Roark in 1879.  Buried in Stanford Cemetery in Carroll Co, TN, he has a military marker but it has no dates.  In September 1890 a minor’s pension was filed with John C Johnson as guardian.  The son of  Edward and Eliza Lemmons of Carroll Co, TN, Archibald H Lemmons, also of Co F, was his brother.  MR #1004

LAMPLEY, JAMES M, Co C, private, enlisted for 3 years in Lexington, TN and mustered at Jackson, TN on 9/5/62 at age 17/18.  He was 5’8 ½” tall, light complexion, blue eyes, light hair, a farmer, born in Dickson Co, TN.  He furnished his own horse and equipment.  Captured and paroled at the battle of Trenton, TN, he presumably spent time in parole camp at Columbus, OH (Camp Chase).  Lampley was captured again with the regiment at Union City, TN on 3/24/64 and taken to Andersonville Prison in Georgia where he died on 7/21/64 of diarrhea acute.  He was buried in grave #3697 in the Andersonville National Cemetery.  MR #1005

LANE, NATHANIEL M, Companies D, C, & A, private, enlisted for 3 years in Union City, TN by Lieutenant Wallace on 11/7/63 and mustered at Paducah, KY on 11/7/63 at age 20/21.  He was 5’11” tall, fair complexion, grey eyes, dark hair, a farmer, born in Madison Co, TN.  He had previously served in Co I, 48th Illinois. Presumedly captured with the regiment at Union City, TN on 3/24/64, Lane spent time in Andersonville Prison in Georgia.  He was exchanged through Savannah, GA and Charleston, SC in November/December 1864 and taken to Annapolis, MD.  He was discharged with the regiment when it disbanded at Nashville, TN on 8/9/65.  Lane filed for an invalid pension while living in Illinois.  He died on 8/27/1917 in Danville, IL.  Lane also used the alias Monroe Pennington.  MR #1007

LATHAM, CARTER C, Co A, enlisted for 3 years at Jackson, TN on 8/18/65 at age 38.  He was 6’2” tall, dark complexion, dark eyes, dark hair (description from widow’s pension).  He died in camp at Trenton, TN on 11/16/62 of pneumonia (muster rolls) or diphtheria (pension).  Latham was the son of William and Patience Latham.  He had married Rhody Jane Britt in 1845.  She applied for a widow’s pension in 1865.  In 1883 she was receiving $8 per month.  Henry W Foster was declared her legal guardian because she was said to be of unsound mind and unable to maintain the children or herself.  The sons, James, John and Carter were apprenticed to Henry W Foster, the daughter Nancy to John McCall, the daughter Mary was independent.  MR #1008

LAWTON, W H, Co I, private.  No enlistment or muster rolls are known. Presumed captured with the regiment at Union City, TN on 3/24/64, Lawton was taken to Andersonville Prison in Georgia where he died on 9/15/64 of pneumonia.  Lawton is probably buried in the Andersonville National Cemetery but his grave number is unknown.  MR #1010

LAWLER, JAMES G, Co A, private, enlisted by Lieutenant Allender at Fort Hindman, KY on 6/22/63 or at Saulsbury, TN on 8/1/63 and mustered at Memphis, TN on 11/23/63 at age 18/21.  He was 5’8” tall, fair complexion, blue eyes, brown hair, a farmer, born in Henderson Co, TN and a resident thereof.  Lawler died of pneumonia at Huntingdon, TN in a private residence.  His parents were Julia K Webb and Lewis S Lawler.  His father received a dependent pension in 1881.  His brother, John Abner Lawler also served in Co A.  MR #1012

LAWLER, JOHN A(BNER), Co A, private, enlisted at Fort Hindman, KY on 6/22/63 at about age 18 (born 5/14/45 to Lewis S and Julia K Webb Lawler).  He was absent sick on 2/29/64 and was never discharged.  In the 1890 veterans’ census he lived near the Atwood, TN Post Office and said his regiment had been captured.  In 1893 he applied for a pension but it was denied.  Apparently the pension office felt he should have returned to duty with those men who were not captured or have applied for a medical discharge.  Lawler married 1st Martha Lydia Dunn (m. 1866), and 2nd Sallie Smith.  He died 4/14/1922 and is buried in the Pisgah Cemetery near Atwood, TN.  His brother, James G Lawler, also served in Co A. LAWRENCE, HARWOOD (HAYWOOD) J, Co E, private, enlisted for 3 years in Huntingdon, TN on 6/22/62 and mustered at Humboldt, TN on 8/11/62.  He was AWOL from Trenton, TN in November 1862.  Lawrence moved to Illinois 1/25/63 after being sent home on a sick furlough and was AWOL from Grand Junction, TN by 6/13/63.  A $30 reward was offered for his return.  Arrested in Webang (?), IL on 11/14/63 ), Lawrence was taken to Cairo, IL on 11/16/63.  He died in the hospital of unknown cause.  He appears to be the son of Thomas and Sarah Lawrence of Carroll Co, TN.  His mother applied for a pension in the 1880s.  Lawrence and would have been about 18 or 19 at enlistment.  MR #1014

LAYCOOK (LAYCOCK), JOHN S(IMS), Co F, sergeant, enlisted by Lieutenant Hawkins for one year in Carroll Co, TN on 9/20/62 and mustered at Trenton, TN on 9/24/62 at age 22 (b 3/22/1840).  He was 5’8” tall, fair complexion, black eyes, light hair, a farmer, born in Carroll Co, TN on 3/22/1840 to Joseph and Anna Suggs Laycook.  He was appointed sergeant on 10/20/62.  Captured and paroled at the battle of Trenton, TN, Laycook spent time in parole camp at Columbus, OH (Camp Chase).  He was sent to Nashville in September 1863 and mustered out officially at Saulsbury, TN on 10/25/63.  He married Zilly E Wilks in 1866.  They moved to Boulder, CO.  He filed for an invalid pension in 1891.  Laycook died in Boulder on 11/22/1904 and is buried in the Hygiene, CO Cemetery.  He was the son of Joseph L and Anna Sugg Laycook of Carroll Co, TN.  MR #1016

LAYCOOK (LAYCOCK), JOHN C, Co G, corporal, enlisted for 1 year at Clarksburg, TN on 10/5/62 at age 18.  He was 5’5 ½” tall, light complexion, blue eyes, light hair, a farmer, born in Carroll Co, TN on 11/5/42 to Thomas and Martha A Laycock, residents of Carroll Co, TN.  He furnished his own horse and equipment worth $110 and was promoted to corporal on 9/28/62.  Captured and paroled at the battle of Trenton, TN, Laycook spent time in parole camp at Columbus, OH (Camp Chase).  He was sent to Nashville in September 1863 and most likely mustered out at Saulsbury, TN on 10/25/63 with the one year enlistees.  He married Nancy C Dill in 1868.  Applying for invalid pension in 1890, Laycook spelled his name "Laycock."  He died on 7/11/1901 and is buried in the Pleasant Hill (Old) Cemetery in Carroll Co, TN with a military marker.  MR #1017 & 1030

LEATHERS, THOMAS F, Co C, private, enlisted in Lexington, TN on 8/28/62 and mustered at Jackson, TN on 9/5/62 at age 27.  Captured and paroled at Trenton, TN on 12/20/62,  Leathers died sometime in 1863 but there is no record of the cause of death.  One card in the muster roll lists him as F. F. Leathers.  A minor applied for a pension on Leathers' service.  MR #1018

LEDBETTER, ISAAC J, Co C, private, enlisted in Co E, 13th/14th TN Cavalry by Captain Postin at Fort Pillow, TN on 2/12/64 and mustered at Columbus, KY on the same day at age 19.  He was 5’6” tall, fair complexion, blue eyes, light hair, a farmer, born in Lauderdale Co, TN and was due a bounty for enlistment.  Ledbetter was one of the men not captured with the 13th/14th regiment at the Fort Pillow in April 1864.  These men were assigned to the 7th Tennessee for a short period.  They left the 7th to become part of Co E 6th TN Cavalry.  Ledbetter was the son of Jepe M and Sarah J Ledbetter of Lauderdale Co, TN.  Ledbetter married Nancy H Singleton in 1862.  He applied for an invalid pension in 1874.  Some descendants think he moved to Arkansas in connection with some swamp land sales.  MR #1019

LEE, BERRY D, Co C, private, enlisted for 1 year in Paducah, KY on 3/1/65 and mustered at Nashville, TN on 8/5/65 at age 25.  He was 6’1” tall, dark complexion, black eyes, dark hair, a farmer, born in Talladega Co, AL.  He was due a $33.33 bounty for enlistment.  Lee was discharged with the regiment when it disbanded at Nashville, TN on 8/9/65.  On August 1, 1890 he applied for a navy pension.  In the 1890 veterans’ census his widow, Lucinda F Lee, lived in Hardin Co, TN near the Sibley Post Office.  The census mentions her as the widow of Seaman Tyler which may mean that his previous navy enlistment was on the gunboat “Tyler.”  MR #1021

LEONARD, (ISAAC) M, Co C, private/bugler, enlisted for 3 years in Jackson, TN on 8/28/62 and mustered at Jackson on 9/5/62 at age 24.  He furnished his own horse and equipment and was a resident of Henderson Co, TN in 1860.  Presumed captured with the regiment at Union City, TN on 3/24/64, Leonard was taken to Andersonville Prison in Georgia where he died on 11/11/64 of diarrhea acute.  He was buried in grave #11979 in the Andersonville National Cemetery.  His widow, Malinda Hays Leonard, applied for a pension in 1869.  In 1883 she lived near the Decaturville, TN Post Office and was receiving $8 per month pension.  Leonard was the son of Uriah and Mary Leonard.  MR #1025

LESTER, JAMES L, Co M, private, enlisted by Captain Barr for 3 years in Memphis, TN on 12/2/63 and mustered on 12/21/63 at age 21/22.  He was 5’10” tall, dark complexion, black eyes, black hair, a farmer, born in Arkansas.  Presumed captured with the regiment at Union City, TN on 3/24/64, Lester was taken to Andersonville Prison in Georgia where he died on 9/22/64 of diarrhea chronic.  He was buried in grave #9594 in the Andersonville National Cemetery.  MR #1026

LETSINGER (LEDSINGER), (GEORGE) LEWIS, Co F, private, enlisted by Lieutenant Hawkins for 1 year in Carroll Co, TN on 9/20/62 and mustered at Trenton, TN on 9/24/62 at age 17 (born 1844).  He was 5’7” tall, dark complexion, grey eyes, dark hair, a farmer.  He had the consent of this parents, George and Nancy Heffly Letsinger.  He was captured and paroled at either the battle of Lexington or Trenton, TN and spent time in parole camp at Columbus, OH (Camp Chase).  He was sent to Nashville in September 1863 and mustered out at Saulsbury, TN on 10/25/63 at the end of his one year enlistment.  He re-enlisted in Co L of the 12th TN Cavalry USA.  In 1870 he married Rebecca Everett.  Letsinger joined the Grand Army of the Republic (GAR) in 1887 and applied for an invalid pension in 1888.  He died in May of 1907 and is buried in the Liberty All Cemetery in Carroll Co, TN with a military marker.  His widow, Rebecca E Ledsinger, applied for a pension on 7/16/1907.  Letsinger’s brother, James Herman Letsinger, joined Co F, 52nd Indiana Infantry and died at Memphis, TN on 2/9/64.  MR #1027

LEWIS, MOSES V(ANDEVER), Co B, 3rd sergeant, enlisted by L D Crockett for 3 years in Paducah, KY on 2/1/64 and mustered at Columbus, KY on 6/14/64 at age 31 (born 1/22/1833).  He was 5’9” tall, fair complexion, grey eyes, light hair, a farmer, said to be born in Washington Co, AR.  A resident of Decatur Co, TN in 1860, Lewis was the son of Samuel Lewis and Bricey Holt Lewis.  He was not captured with the regiment at Union City, TN on 3/24/64 and was discharged with the regiment when it disbanded at Nashville, TN on 8/9/65.  Lewis had married Sarah Catherine Rhodes in 1855.  He applied for an invalid pension in 1882.  Lewis died in Sebastian Co, Arkansas (Fort Chaffee) on 1/2/1905 and is buried in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery.  His brother, Alvis Gatson Lewis, was a Confederate and served in the 2nd Cherokee Mounted Rifles, CSA.  MR #1028

LEWIS, ZACHARIAS, Co A, private, enlisted by Major Smith for 3 years at Lexington, TN and mustered at Jackson, TN on 8/19/62 at age 19/22/29.  He was 5’8 ½” tall, fair complexion, blue eyes, dark hair, a farmer, born in the Robeson District of South Carolina.  He was due a $100 bounty for enlistment.  Lewis was captured and paroled at the battle of Lexington, TN and presumably spent time in parole camp at Columbus, OH (Camp Chase).  Captured again, this time with the regiment at Union City, TN on 3/24/64, he spent time in Andersonville Prison in Georgia.  Exchanged through Charleston, SC on 12/14/64, Lewis was discharged with the regiment when it disbanded at Nashville, TN on 8/9/65.  He and his widow applied for Union pensions.  MR #1029

LINDLEY, WILLIAM, Co B, no rank, enlisted by Gaskins for 3 years in Paducah, KY on 11/26/64 at age 20.  He was 5’6” tall, fair complexion, blue eyes, light hair, a farmer, born in Harrison, TN.  Lindley was dropped from the rolls after being rejected by the mustering officer, Lieutenant McIver.  MR #1031a

LINDSEY, BERRY G(ROVE), Co A, private, enlisted for three years in Jackson, TN on 8/28/62 at age 28.  He furnished his own horse and equipment.  He was “killed in Lexington, Tennessee on Nov 1, 1862 by a citizen.”  He died at home on either 11/1/62 or 11/20/62.  His widow, Wincey A Lindsey, is in the 1870 Henderson Co, TN census.  She applied for a pension in 1871.  MR #1033 

LINDSEY, JAMES, Co A, private, enlisted by Captain Martin for 3 years at La Grange, TN on 6/10/63 and mustered at La Grange on 7/18/63 at age 19.  He was one of the 100 or more men who went AWOL from the forts on the Mississippi/Tennessee line in June 1863.  He left camp on 6/20/63, carrying off one set of horse equipment and a Union carbine belt.  Lindsey apparently returned because he seems to have been captured with the regiment at Union City, TN on 3/24/64 and taken to Andersonville Prison in Georgia.  Exchanged through North East Ferry, NC on 3/3/65, he was discharged on 5/3/65.  MR #1034

LINDSEY, JOHN L (H), Co A, private, enlisted by Captain Smith for 3 years at Lexington TN on 8/4/62 and mustered at Jackson, TN on 8/18/62 at age 18.  He was 5’2” tall, fair complexion, blue eyes, light hair, a farmer, born in Henderson Co, TN.  He furnished his own horse and equipment.  Lindsey was one of the 100 or more men who went AWOL from the forts on the Mississippi/Tennessee line in June 1863.  He died of a gunshot wound at his home in Henderson Co, TN on either 12/24/63 or 12/24/64.  His AWOL was removed as he later was said to have had “proper authority.”  His father applied for a pension, #294,421, in 1882 on Lindsey's service.  MR #1035

LINDSEY, JAMES W or W J, Co F, private, enlisted by Lieutenant Hawkins at Trenton for 1 year’s service on 9/24/62 and mustered the same day at age 18/19 with the consent of his parents, Eli M and Jane Roberts Lindsey of Carroll Co, TN.  He was 5’9 ½” tall, fair complexion, black eyes, dark hair, a farmer, born in Orange Co, NC.  He was captured and paroled at Huntingdon, TN on 12/27/62 by Lieutenant Franklin Hawkins, a Confederate 1st cousin of Colonel Isaac Hawkins.  Lindsey was discharged on 5/1/63 (before his one year enlistment was complete) due to tuberculosis in his left lung and chronic pneumonia.  He applied for an invalid pension in 1880 under the name William J and died on 8/26/1922 at Idlewild, TN.  His widow, Malissa J Lindsey, applied for a pension in September 1922.  The pension papers say he was also in Co B.  MR #1036

LINDSEY, WILLIAM, Co A, private, enlisted for 3 years in Jackson, TN on 8/28/62 at age 24.  He was AWOL by 2/8/64 and was listed as a deserter.  In 1890 he lived in Henderson Co, TN near the Alberton, Post Office.  MR #1037

LINDSEY, WILLIAM J, Co A, private, enlisted for 3 years at Fort Hindman on 6/22/63 at age twenty-something and was AWOL by 2/8/64.  Either he returned and was captured with the regiment at Union City, TN on 3/24/64 or he was captured while AWOL.  Somehow he ended up in Andersonville Prison in Georgia, where he died on 10/15/64 of pneumonia.  He is most likely buried in the Andersonville National Cemetery in an unnumbered grave.  MR #1038

LIPE, JAMES D, Co B, corporal, recruited by Captain Martin and enlisted for 3 years in Carroll Co, TN on 8/17/62 and mustered on the same day in Benton Co, TN at age 34.  He was 5’8” tall, fair complexion, dark hair, dark eyes, a farmer, born in Carroll Co, TN.  Lipe was in the battle of Trenton, TN on 12/20/1862 and had orders to report to Camp Chase in Columbus, OH.  By 3/14/63, however, he was discharged at Columbus, KY due to a hernia on his right side that existed before enlistment.  He applied for an invalid pension on 11/21/63.  His widow, L M Lipe, applied for a pension in October 1899.  James Lipe is buried in the Marlboro Cemetery in Carroll Co, TN and has a military marker on his grave with no dates.  He was the son of Jacob and Mary Lipe of Hollow Rock, TN.  MR #1039

LISENBY, JAMES, Co A.  This man applied for an invalid pension and died in Jackson, TN on 7/9/1928.  He has no muster roll records with the 7th Tennessee.

LISTEN (LISTON), WILLIAM H, Co I, private, enlisted for 3 years in Carroll Co, TN on 9/15/63 and mustered at Union City, TN on 12/15/63 at about 19 years of age.  He furnished his own horse and equipment for two months.  Liston is presumed captured with the regiment at Union City, TN on 3/24/64 and taken to Andersonville Prison in Georgia where he died on 9/15/64 of unknown cause.  He is most likely buried in the Andersonville National Cemetery in a grave without a number.  His mother, Martha Liston, applied for a dependent pension in 1867.  Liston was a resident of Carroll Co, TN in 1860.  MR #1042

LITTLE, EDWARD (EDMOND) D, Co A, private, enlisted 1 year in Lexington, TN on 8/9/62 and mustered at Jackson, TN on 8/19/62 at age 22.  He was 6’2 ½” tall, fair complexion, blue eyes, light hair, a farmer, born in Union Co, NC.  Little was in the battle of Lexington, TN and was captured and paroled with the regiment at the battle of Trenton, TN on 12/20/1862.  He reported to Camp Chase in Columbus, OH to await exchange and returned to the regiment by 10/31/63.  Little is presumed captured with the regiment at Union City, TN on 3/24/64 and taken to Andersonville Prison in Georgia where he died in quarters on 7/22/64 of unknown cause.  He was buried in grave #3760 in the Andersonville National Cemetery.  His widow, Mary Little, applied for a pension in 1865.  He may be a brother to George W Little in Co A.  MR #1043

LITTLE, GEORGE M, Co F, private, enlisted for 1 year in Trenton, TN on 8/10/62 at age 17/18 (15 census) with the consent of his parents, Joshua and Jincy Little of Carroll Co, TN.  He served out his one year and mustered out at Saulsbury, TN on 10/25/63.  Little was “taken up as a citizen, disposition not given,” having been captured near Dresden in Weakley, Co, TN on 4/17/64.  He spent time in Andersonville Prison and was exchanged through Savannah, GA on 11/20/64.  Little applied for an invalid pension in 1883 but was not given a certificate.  A minor pension was filed in 1870 with P. H. Kemp as guardian.  MR #1044

LITTLE, GEORGE W, Co A, private, enlisted for 3 years in Jackson, TN on 8/18/62 at age 26.  He furnished his own horse and equipment which was worth $60.  He lost his horse and equipment at the battle of Trenton, TN in December 1862.  Sick after the battle, his friends took him home to Henderson Co, TN until 3/10/64 when he rejoined the regiment.  Presumed captured with the regiment at Union City, TN on 3/24/64, Little spent time in Andersonville Prison in Georgia.  He was moved to Florence, SC when General Sherman's presence in Georgia threatened Andersonville.  He died in prison at Florence on 10/22/64.  His widow, Jurancy Little, married George W Jowers by 1870.  Hosea Preslar, a minister in Henderson Co, TN, was appointed administrator of Little’s estate.   Edward D Little of Co A may be George Little's brother and James H and Sarah Holmes Little of Henderson Co, TN their parents.  MR #1045

LIVINGSTON (LOWENSTEIN), MARK (MARC), Co F, private, recruited by Lieutenant Hawkins and enlisted for 1 year at Trenton, TN on 9/24/62 and mustered the same day at age 21.  He was 5’5 ¾” tall, fair complexion, blue eyes, light hair, a farmer, born in Schornsheim, Germany but a resident of Carroll Co, TN in 1860.  Livingston was captured and paroled at the battle of Trenton, TN and spent time in parole camp at Columbus, OH (Camp Chase).  He was sent to Nashville and mustered out at Saulsbury, TN on 10/25/63.  He applied for an invalid pension in 1886.  His widow, Mary J Jarrell Lowenstein, applied for a pension in the late 1880s.  MR #1046 

LOFTUS, THOMAS, Co C, private, enlisted for 3 years in Paducah, KY on 11/1/63 and mustered there on 11/21/63 at age 21.  He was due a bounty for enlistment.  Loftus 5’11” tall, light complexion, blue eyes, dark hair, born in Galway, Ireland, and a crew member on a steamboat.  He was away with official leave at the post hospital in Columbus, KY in May and June 1864.  Loftus had a previous military record.  He was one of the men of the 13th/14th TN Cavalry who escaped capture with their regiment at Fort Pillow on 4/12/64.  They were temporarily stationed with the 7th Tennessee detachment at Columbus, KY in the summer of 1864.  These men left the 7th Tennessee to become part of Co E 6th TN Cavalry.  MR #1049 

LOGAN, PRESTON, Co C, private, enlisted for 3 years in Paducah, KY on 10/1/64 by Lieutenant Murray at age 18.  He was 5’7” tall, dark complexion, dark eyes, dark hair, a farmer, born in Franklin Co, AL.  Logan previously attempted to join Co M of the 1st AL Cavalry US on 12/11/1863 at Camp Davies, MS but was rejected by the surgeon on account of general disability but the 7th Tennessee accepted him.  He was in the hospital at Paducah, KY within a month of enlistment, due to general debility.  He was discharged through the hospital at Jeffersonville, IN on 6/1/65.  Logan was the son of William and Nancy Logan of Franklin Co, AL.  MR #1050

LOLLER (LAWLER), ROBERT J, Co K, private, enlisted by Captain Beatty in Henderson Co, TN for 3 years on 5/1/63 at age 19.  He was 5’8” tall, light complexion, hazel eyes, light hair, a farmer, born in Henderson Co, TN.  Presumed captured with the regiment at Union City, TN on 3/24/64, Lawler spent time in Andersonville Prison in Georgia.  Paroled through Vicksburg, MS on 4/29/65, he was taken to the St Louis, MO where he died of consumption in the Jefferson Barracks Hospital.  He is most likely buried in the National Cemetery there.  Roll of Honor gives the date of death as 4/27/65 but that is too early if his parole date is correct.  He was the son of James M and Elizabeth Bevell of Henderson Co, TN.  MR #1051

LOVELL, LINDOLPH (W), Co G, private, enlisted for 1 year in Carroll Co, TN on 8/5/62 at age 29.  He was 5’4” tall, dark complexion, hazel eyes, dark hair, a farmer, born in Henderson Co, TN.  Captured and paroled at the battle of Trenton, TN, Lovell spent time in parole camp at Columbus, OH (Camp Chase).  He was sent to Nashville and mustered out officially at Saulsbury, TN on 10/25/63.  In 1890 he was living in the 15th District of Henderson Co, TN when he applied for an invalid pension.  Lovell died on 7/15/1902 and is buried in the Milton Cemetery in Henderson Co, TN.  His widow, Louisa J Lovell, applied for a pension in 1902.  Lovell was the son of Robert and Sarah Garland Lovell who married in Davidson Co, TN in 1811.  MR #1052

LOWE (LOW), JAMES M, Companies A & I, private, enlisted for 3 years by Lieutenant Murray in Union City, TN on 11/15/63 and mustered at Columbus, KY the same day at age 24.  He was 5’11” tall, fair complexion, dark hair, a farmer, born in Hardeman Co, TN.  He had one AWOL which was later removed, was on detached duty some of the time and transferred from Co A to Co I in February 1865.  There is no record of discharge.  He applied for an invalid pension while living in Illinois in 1897.  He died on 2/24/1926 in Golconda, IL.  MR #1054

LOWERY (LOWRY), JESSE H, Companies B & A, corporal/sergeant, enlisted in Carroll Co, TN on 8/10/62 and mustered in Benton Co, TN on 8/17/62 at age 33 (born 2/3/32).  He furnished his own horse and equipment.  Captured and paroled with the regiment at the battle of Trenton, TN on 12/20/1862, Lowery likely reported to Camp Chase in Columbus, OH for parole camp as instructed.  After exchange he is presumed captured with the regiment at Union City, TN on 3/24/64 and taken to Andersonville Prison in Georgia.  Released through North East Ferry, NC on 2/28/65, Lowry was mustered out on 5/23/65.  He applied for an invalid pension in 1876.  His wife, Edie Caroline Cox, was a sister to Newton Cox of Co B and Cox was married to Lowry’s sister, Rosella.  Sometime after the war the families of Jesse Lowry and Newton Cox moved to Illinois.  Lowry died on 12/12/1888 in Cypress, Johnson Co, IL and is buried in the West Eden Cemetery.  There was a widow’s pension filed by Christina Lowry on 3/1/1900 from Illinois. LOWING, JOHN, Co K, private, enlisted by Captain Beatty in Henderson Co, TN on 5/1/63 at age 44.  He was 5’5” tall, dark complexion, hazel eyes, dark hair, a farmer, born in Henderson Co, TN.  Lowing is presumed captured with the regiment at Union City, TN on 3/24/64 and taken to Andersonville Prison in Georgia where he died on 10/4/64 of unknown cause.  He is most likely buried in the Andersonville National Cemetery in an unknown grave.  MR #1055a

LYNN, NATHANIEL, Co B, private, enlisted for 3 years in Paducah, KY on 2/2/64 and mustered at Columbus, KY on 6/14/64 at age 45/53.  He was 5’10” tall, fair complexion, blue eyes, grey hair, a farmer, born in Robinson (Robertson) Co, TN but a resident of Paducah, KY.  He was discharged in Louisville, KY on 6/13/65 suffering from chronic rheumatism.  He died on 2/12/1870 and is buried in the Pell Cemetery in Pellonia, Massac Co, IL.  His wife was Martha J Tompkins whom he married in 1837 in Hopkins Co, KY.  She applied for a widow's pension in August 1879.   MR #1059
