EASTWOOD, WILEY, Co A, private, enlisted for 3 years in Jackson, TN on 8/18/62 at age 30. He furnished his own horse (worth $105) and equipment. Eastwood was a resident of Henderson Co, TN in 1860, married to Elizabeth Ann Dunn who had brothers in the 7th Tennessee. He was AWOL on 2/11/63 and on 5/10/63. He was also one of the 100 or more men who went AWOL from the forts on the Mississippi/Tennessee line in June 1863. He left on 6/20/63 from Grand Junction, TN. There is no more information in the muster rolls. The 1889 pension application for his minor son, James M Eastwood, says Wily Eastwood was killed by guerillas. The pension, however, was denied. blue eyes, light hair, born in McCracken Co, KY, but a farm
laborer in Carroll Co, TN in 1860. He
was
discharged at Saulsbury, TN at the end of his one year
enlistment on 10/25/63. Edwards
married Rebecca Jane Rogers in 1866 and lived in the Maple Creek
area of Carroll Co, TN. He applied for an
invalid pension in 1879 and died on 2/11/1881.
Edwards is buried in the Edwards Cemetery in Carroll Co, TN with
a military marker on his grave. The
widow, Rebecca Edwards, applied for a pension in 1890 and listed
Buena Vista, TN as her nearest post office in the 1890 veterans'

was 5’8” tall, fair complexion, blue eyes, light hair, born in
Union, KY, a farmer. Edwards was

the 1890 veterans' census he was living in Metropolis, IL. He
died in June 1914 in Metropolis, IL. His wife applied for
a widow's pension in 1914. Edwards seems to have also

TN in 1860, he was a tenant farmer, married to Neely A. Stokes. Edwards applied for an invalid pension in
1873. His wife filed for a widow's pension while

complexion, blue eyes, light hair, a farmer, born in Carroll Co,
TN. He furnished his own horse and
equipment for two months. Edwards
was in the hospital at Jefferson Barracks, MO in June and July,
1864 which means he was not captured at Union City, TN with the
regiment in March, 1864. He was
discharged when the regiment disbanded in Nashville, TN on
8/9/65. Edwards married Mary
Francis Spellings in 1865. He
applied for an invalid pension. The
1890 he lived in Hollow Rock, TN. In the veterans’ census
of 1890 Edwards said he had bronchitis for 25 years which he
contracted in the military. He died
at Hollow Rock, TN on 2/21/1913 and is buried in Pisgah Cemetery
near Bruceton in Carroll Co, TN. His
wife applied for a widow's pension. The son of Nathaniel
and Alcy Edwards, his brother, William A. Edwards, was also in
Co I of the 7th Tennessee. MR #549

disease. A minor applied for a pension in
1870 and it was granted. William A Edward's
parents were Nathaniel and Alcy Edwards. His

with the regiment when it disbanded at Nashville, TN on

years in Buena Vista on 9/26/63 and mustered in Union City, TN
on 12/15/63 at about 23 years old. He
furnished his own horse and equipment and was appointed a
sergeant on 10/15/63. There is no
discharge date in his muster rolls. Married
to Nancy C King in 1860, they were residents of Carroll Co, TN. Elinor may have died during the war since a
minor applied for a pension in 1866.
Elinor’s parents were Fredrick and Mary Ann Moore Elinor. His mother applied for a dependent parent
pension in 1889. His brother, Robert Newton

the regiment at Union City, TN on 3/24/64, he spent time in
Andersonville Prison in Georgia. From
there
he was taken to prison in Millen, GA. Exchanged

Savannah
and
Charleston,
SC
in
November
and
December
1864,
he
was
transported
to
the hospital in Annapolis, Maryland where he died of chronic
diarrhea on 2/13/65. Elinor was
buried in Ashgrove Cemetery in Annapolis, MD in grave

ENLOE,
THOMAS E, Companies B & A, private, enlisted for 3
years in Carroll Co, TN and mustered at Humboldt, TN on 8/26/62
at about 17 years old. He received
a $100 bounty for enlistment and furnished his own horse and
equipment from 2/29/64-6/30/64. He
was not captured at Union City, TN with the regiment in March
1864. From November of 1864 through
June 1865 Enloe served as the company clerk.
He married Rebecca A Spellings in 1865.
Enloe had moved to Arkansas by 1873 when he applied to
the 3rd session of the 42nd Congress for settlement of a claim
and received $110.00 compensation. He
applied for an invalid pension in 1907. In the 2nd session
of the US 62nd Congress in 1912 his pension rate was increased
to $30.00 per month. Enloe died in
Nashville, TN on 5/26/1914. Rebecca Enloe
applied for a pension on 6/18/1914. Thomas
Enloe was the son of Benjamin (b Vermont) and Nancy Blair (b
Virginia) Enloe. MR #558

mustered at Trenton, TN on 9/28/62 at about age 40 (born 1822). He and his wife, Hannah Jane Ingram
Essary, were residents of Henderson Co, TN in 1860. His muster roll says that at various
time he was AWOL or home sick. The
deserters list says he was absent in April 1863 but was at Camp
Chase, OH in July and August of that year.
Essary was also one of the 100 or more men who went AWOL
from the forts on the Mississippi/Tennessee line in June 1863. There is no record of discharge in the
muster rolls. Essary was born in
Kingston, Roane County, TN to John Henry and Sophia Hawkins
Essary and died on 7/13/1915 in Henderson Co, TN.
He is buried in Union Cemetery in Henderson Co. MR

He left Grand Junction, TN on 6/21/63 and was captured at Mt Pinson, TN or Decatur Co, TN. Sent to prison in Richmond, VA, he was paroled through Camp Parole, VA on 7/14/63. Presumed captured again, this time with the regiment at Union City, TN on 3/24/64, he spent time in Andersonville Prison in Georgia. Exchanged through Jacksonville, FL on 4/28/65, he was discharged at Camp Chase, OH on 6/26/65. Essary applied for an invalid pension in 1879. He died on 6/13/1901 and is buried in the Judson Community Cemetery in Henderson Co, TN. His widow Martha applied for a pension in August 1901. MR #568

EDWARD
C, Co G, private, enlisted for 1 year in Carroll Co, TN on
8/5/62 at age 22. He was one of the
100 or more men who went AWOL from the forts on the
Mississippi/Tennessee line in June 1863. He
apparently returned to duty because he was able to remove the
AWOL from his record on 3/17/1887. In
1889 Edwards joined the Grand Army of the Republic (GAR) Post
#81. He applied for an invalid pension in
1890 while living near the Law Post Office in Henderson
Co, TN. He complained about a
dislocated back and hip in the 1890 veterans’ census. His pension papers say he died on 1/16/1920 in
Milan, TN. His widow applied for a pension in
1920. MR #575
EVANS,
DRURY (ANDREW), Co C, private, enlisted in Lexington, TN
on 8/28/62 and mustered at Jackson, TN on 9/5/62 at about 34
years of age. He furnished his own
horse and equipment. His record says he was
captured by rebel guerrillas at Jacks Creek, TN on
6/20/63 while reportedly visiting his home on a scouting
trip. He most likely was imprisoned in Richmond, VA for a
short time before exchange as were others captured that day and
place. He was killed in his own home on 3/6/64. Evans is buried in the Evans Cemetery
in Henderson Co, TN and has a military marker.
He was the son of Thomas and Louisa Evans and the husband
of Lucinda Vandergriff Evans. She
applied for a pension in 1868. Minors Isaac L Evans, et al

EVANS,
JAMES M, Co M, private, enlisted for 3 years in
Adamsville, TN on 7/6/63 at age 24. He
is presumed to have been captured with the regiment at Union
City, TN on 3/24/64 and taken to Andersonville Prison in Georgia
where he died on 5/8/64 of pneumonia. Evans
was buried in grave #970 in the Andersonville National
Cemetery. His widow applied for a pension in 1866 and
their is also a minor's pension application. MR #579

year at Trenton, TN on 9/24/62 and mustered the same day at age
21 (born 12/2/40). He was 5’10
¼” tall, fair complexion, blue eyes, light hair, a
farmer, born in Carroll Co, TN and a resident thereof in 1860. He served his one year and was
discharged at Saulsbury, TN on 10/25/63. He
received an invalid pension. He had been married to Martha
M Evans for 44 years in 1910. Evans
died on 6/14/1912 and is buried in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in
Carroll Co, TN. He was the son of Benjamin F and Eliza K
Porter Evans. MR #580
EVANS,
WILEY (D), Co C, corporal/ sergeant, enlisted for 3 years
in Jackson, TN on 9/5/62 at age 32. He
furnished his own horse and equipment from enlistment to
4/30/63. Captured in connection
with either the battle of Lexington or Trenton, TN in late
December 1862, he was AWOL from Camp Chase, OH parole camp on
6/20/63 but returned to duty at some point.
Presumed captured with the regiment at Union City, TN
on 3/24/64, Evan was taken to Andersonville Prison in
Georgia. He died in prison quarters on 5/3/64 of pneumonia
and was buried in grave #848 in the Andersonville National
Cemetery. Evans’ widow was Sarah
Johnson Evans , whom he had married in 1851.
She applied for a widow's pension in 1869. In
the 1890 veterans' census she lived in the 15th district of
Henderson Co, TN. Evans’
estate received $117.00 from the government in 1880. Sarah Evan's
brother was Charles James Johnson of Company A. MR #581

He left Grand Junction, TN on 6/20/63 and was captured by
the 10th Tennessee Cavalry CSA at Mt. Pinson, TN on 6/20/63. Arriving at Richmond, VA on 7/9/63, he was
paroled very quickly on 7/14/63. Sent
to Camp Chase, OH, he was diagnosed with dysentery on 7/24/63. He returned to active duty, however,
and is presumed captured with the regiment at Union City, TN on
3/24/64 and taken to Andersonville Prison in Georgia. He died in Charleston, SC on 11/20/64
while awaiting exchange. His wife,
Mary Adaline Holbrook, whom he married in 1854, applied for a
widow's pension in 1866. J W

to Co I on 2/17/65, he was appointed 1st duty sergeant two days
later. He was discharged with the
regiment when it disbanded at Nashville, TN on 8/9/65. Everett appears to be the son of Blake
B and Nancy R Balthrope Everett. He
married Margaret E Morgan, sister to Benjamin F Morgan of Co F,
in 1867 but died on 10/9/1868. She
applied for a pension on his service in May 1911 under the name
