I am looking for proof that Amelia WILHOIT WHITESELL is the daughter
of Jacob and Amelia HOLT WILHOIT.
Jacob WILHOIT was born 22 Dec 1751 Culpepper Co. VA. He died 30
Sept 1821 in Bedford Co. TN.
His wife was Amelia HOLT b. 7 April 1762 Orange Co. NC and d. 3 Sept
1821 in Bedford Co. TN They married 1779 in Orange Co. NC
The line that I am following is through their daughter
Amelia WILHOIT born 20 Nov. 1782 in Orange Co. NC She d. 22 March
1865 Marshall Co. TN She married ( 12 Oct 1803 Orange Co. NC) John
WHITESELL b. 30 Nov 1777 Virginia d. 5 April 1842 Lewisburg,
Marshall Co. ,TN
In Deed Book O 1821-22 Jacob gave land to two of his sons..
is it possible that he also gave land to his daughter Amelia (I have
not seen the record in Deed Book 0 1821-22 - but was told to look
there. Does anyone have access to Deed Book ?)
Apparently no one has ever used Amelia's descendents as a line
from Jacob in DAR - I hope that I can find the proof to open this
line for other descendants.

My grandmother, Mary Ella HARDIN (1891-1963) of Ardmore, Limestone
Co., AL, (also lived in Giles Co., TN) claimed to be part
(quarter?)American Indian. The Cherokee and Chickasaw tribes
originally claimed the part of AL that is now Limestone Co., so very
likely the Native American connection in her family was Cherokee or
Chickasaw. People in her lineage (all from Limestone Co.) who might
have been Indian include:
(A) William Henry HARDIN (1861-1942), (B) Amanda V. WALES
(1868-1894),
(C) James F. HARDIN (1822-1863), (D) Rebecca ROGERS (1831-1910),(E)
Sarah HARDIN (b. abt 1802) or her unknown spouse – Sarah is in 1850
Census for Limestone Co. with four children, ages 7-27 in same
household. There is an S.J. Hardin (b 1802) buried in the Milhous
Cemetery, Ardmore, AL, who may be the same person as this Sarah
Hardin. If you have knowledge of any of these people’s Native
American ancestry, please contact me. Your information will be
appreciated.
