Our friends over at the Stewart County Historical Society have a goal of placing new signs at all of the county's cemeteries, to ensure that these historical places are not lost or disrupted.

Guardian Records Guardianships were required when minor children received an inheritance.  The County Court appointed one or more guardians to oversee the money, invest, and disburse it, and make a periodic accounting with the County Court until the minor reached legal age.

From 1804-1842, guardian records were recorded in the Settlements, Wills and Bonds books (see section below); from 1842, they were recorded in their own minute and settlement books.  The original papers, however, do not survive.
