"A true copy of deed from B. H. Stone to H. M. Fitzhugh and wife" (1903)

For the consideration of one thousand dollars, cash in hand paid, the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged, I have this day bargained sold and do hereby transfer and convey unto H. M. Fitzhugh and wife E.A. Fitzhugh the following described tract or parcel of land lying in Dist. #9 of Stewart Co. Tennessee on the waters of Bear Creek and bounded as follows:

Beginning on a Black Gum in A.J. Shemwell's west boundary line running thence East with said line 209 poles to a White Oak Shemwells Nort West Corner; Thence with said line 145 poles to the beginning containing 189 acres more or less.

The above boundries includes 10 acres lying in the South East corner of said tract and bounded as follows; to wit.

Beginning on the black gum in A. J. Shemwell's West boundary line running North 14 1/2 poles to a stake; Thence West 113 poles to a stake with black oak and Hickory persimmon & sycamore pointers; Thense South 13 1/2 poles to a stake with black oak pointer; Thence East with Jackson's line to the beginning which is excluded from this conveyance to have and to hold unto the said H. M. Fitzhugh and wife their heirs and assigns forever and I warrant and will defend the title to said land against the lawful claims of all persons.

Deed: Samuel Smith to Daniel Lewis, 1805

This indenture made the 17th day of January Anno Domino 1805 between Samuel Smith of the County of Stewart and State of Tennessee of the one part and Daniel Lewis of the County and State aforesaid of the other side witnesseth;

That for and in consideration of the sum of four hundred dollars to me in hand paid before the sealing and delivering of these presents the receipt thereof is hereby acknowledged hath granted bargained sold conveyed and confirmed and by these presents doth grant bargain sell convey and confirm unto him the said Daniel Lewis a certain tract or parcel of land lying and being on Cumberland River about 1, 2, or 3 hundred yards above the mouth of Cubb Creek.

Beginning on a hackberry and hickory and runs north 189 poles to a hickory or redoak thence west 205 poles to a stake, thence south 132 poles to an ash and blackoak on the bank of the river, thence up the said river with several courses more or less to the begining, containing 274 acres of land more or less originally in the name of Thomas Campbell which said described parcel off and with all and singular thereunto belonging to the said Samual A. Smith is forever warranted unto the said Daniel Lewis and his heirs, executors administrators, and assigns against the lawful claims of all and every person or persons whatsoever all and singular thereunto belonging.

In witness thereof I have hereunto set my hand and fixed my seal this day and year first written above.

Stewart County, Tennessee land deed 1813

THE STATE OF TENNESSEE No. 4901

To all to whom these presents shall come greeting. Know ye that by virtue of Certificate No. 352 (?) date the 15th day of November 1809 obtained from the Commissioner of West Tennessee by George Ridley and entered on the 21st day of January 1811 by No. 5782 (?) there is granted by the said state of Tennessee unto Shadrack Bird assignee of the said George Ridley a certain tract or parcel of land containing eighteen acres lying in Stewart County in the First District on Lick Creek waters of Tennessee River on the North Side. Beginning at a White Oak the beginning corner of an entry of forty acres in the name of Abel Olive Location No. 4560 recrossing (?) north seventy two poles to a Double Sugartree on the Bank of Lick Creek thence West forty poles to a Spanish Oak thence South seventy two poles to a Black Gum in Nelsons Line thence East on the (?) said line to the Beginning Survey on (?) the 25th of January 1811 by Eph. (?) B. Davidson DS. With the Hereditaments and appurtenances to have and to hold the said tract or parcel of Land with its appurtenances to the said Shadrack Bird and his heirs forever in Wittness (sic) whereof Willie Blount Governor of the State of Tennessee hath hereunto set his hand and caused the great seal of the State to be affixed at Nashville on the twenty sixth day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirteen and of the Independence of the United States the thirty eight.
