State of Tennessee Washington County Pursuant to an act of assembly passed the 11th of December 1835 entitled an Act for the laying off the Several Counties in this State into Districts of convenient Size within which Justices of the Peace and Constables shall be Elected and for Other purposes, the under Signed having been appointed Commissioners of Washington County according to the provision of said Act and having been duly qualified Proceeded to lay off the said County of Washington into Seventeen Districts the aforesaid County containing upwards of two thousand qualified Voters and under Twenty five hundred according to the numeration of one thousand eight hundred and thirty three which several Districts are Bounded numbered and described as follows and which are also represented by the map herewith Inclosed

 

No. 1 Mock District Election to be held at Mocks Mill on Chucky River Beginning where the Green County line crosses Chucky River thence along said line South to the Mountain thence along the top of the Mountain opposite J Jacksons then running North to said River then down the sd. river to the Beginning (See Mauktown)

No. 2 McAlister District Election to be held at Jacksons Schoolhouse on McAlisters plantation, Beginning where the Green County line crosses Chucky River thence North to where said line crosses big limestone then up said creek to the mouth of Waterbergers branch then up said branch to its source then a straight line to the top of the ridge where Moses Moore lived on Aiken plantation thence a direct line to the ford of little limestone where the road crosses the same leading to Jonesborough from Greenville thence a direct line to the head of Clarks branch at Reuben Baylesses in Taylors old company then down said branch to the mouth of Ingles spring branch then up said branch to its source then to the head of the Onion branch at Ewen McClures then down said branch to where the old road leading from Jonesborough to Brownsborough crosses the same then with said road to the head of the deep hollow leaving David Shields in this district then down said hollow to Chucky River thence down said River to the beginning

 No. 3 Collom District Election to be held where John Bricker now lives, Beginning at the mouth of the deep hollow leaving David Shields in District No. 2 to where it intersects the old road leading from Jonesborough to Brownsborough then along said road to where it crosses the Onion branch then up said branch to its source then to the head of Ingles spring branch then down said branch to its mouth (Clarks Branch) then a direct line to Jackson Mill then down the river to the Beginning

No. 4 Brown District Election to be held at Browns Mill Beginning at the top of the rich Mountain near Colyers Cabbin on the line of the greasy cove district then the line of the first district to Jacksons Mill then crossing Chucky river to the mouth of Ingles spring branch (Clarks branch) then up said branch to its source then along Barkleys ridge to the top of the ridge near George Walterses leaving said Walters in Taylors old company then to the mouth of Jacob Lemmons lane then to the Mouth of Samuel Templins lane then Crossing Chucky River to Embrees Furnace then a straight line to the top of the rich Mountain to the beginning

 No. 5 Taylor District Election to be held at Henry Taylors Beginning at the ford of little Limestone at Scrugses smith shop thence to the head of Clarks branch then along Barkleys ridge to the top of the ridge near George Walterses leaving Walters in this district then to the one mile post south of Jonesborough (Walnut Mountain road) then to the Corporation of Jonesborough then with said corporation line to the road leading from Jonesborough to Leesburgh to the top of the ridge that leads to Robert Reeds leaving Robert Reed in this district then with said ridge to where Moses Moor lived Aikens plantation then to the Beginning

 No. 6 Embree District Election to be held at Vanes Mill Beginning at the one Mile post South of of Jonesborough (Walnut Mountain road) thence along said road to Christian Slygers than leaving said Slygers on the left hand then a straight line to the top of the timber ridge so as to include Beans Gun factory John Booths and George Whites then to the looking Glass on Chucky river then crossing said river to include the waters of broad Shole creek then along the ridge dividing said creek and Paddys creek and Clarks creek and mine creek to Embrees furnace then with the line of the fourth district crossing the river to Waiters ridge then to the Beginning

No. 7 Mires District Place of holding Election at Dillards old place Beginning on the end of the Buffaloe Mountain on the Carter County line North of Samuel Bogarts where the waters of Sinking and Buffaloe creek divides then following the ridge that divides the waters of Indian creek and other waters to the looking Glass crossing the river to the top of the looking Class Mountain ththence along the highest ridge that divides the waters of South Indian creek from those that fall into Chucky so as to include all the Inhabitants to the North Carolina line then with said line to the line between Washington and Carter Counties then with said line to the Beginning

No. 8 Fine District Election to be held at Elijah Fines Beginning at the one Mile post South of Jonesborough (Walnut Mountain road) then to the two Mile post on the Elizabethton road East of Jonesborough then along said road so as to include Dillard Loves old place then to Captain Howards place including said Howard in this district then to the end of the Buffaloe Mountain North of Samuel Bogarts then with the line of district No. 7 to the top of the Timber ridge leaving out George White place then to the line near Beans Gun factory to the West of Slygers place to the Jonesborough road thence with said road to the beginning –

 No. 9 Brush Creek District Election to be held at the widow Hendrys Beginning at the forks of the road East of Jonesborough running with the North Carolina road to the East end of Dillard Loves place then with the line of district No. 8 to the end of the Buffaloe Mountain including Henry Slagles place then with the Washington and Carter line to the Sullivan County line thence with said line to the Massengill road thence with said road to the Beginning

No. 10 Knob Creek District place of Election at James Melvins Beginning at the fork of the corner of district No. 9 then with the Massengill road to the Sullivan County line then with said County line to the south of Boons creek thence up Carrels branch to John Jenkins including him in said district thence up the hollow to Jacob Millers Junior including his in said district then up the ridge to his Peach Orchard then with the extream height of said ridge to the line of the Jonesborough district then with said district to the mane road leading to Carter then with said road to the beginning

No. 11 Boons Creek District, place of holding Elections at the Widow Ellises, Beginning at the top of the Indian Ridge corner of District No. 10 thence with the line of Said district to the Mouth of Boons creek thence down Watoga River to where the stage road crosses from Jonesborough to Blountville thence with said road to Charles Baskets saw Mill then up the creek to the road leading from Pactolis to Jones- borough thence with said to the line where the Jonesborough district crosses then with said line to the beginning

 No. 12 Buffaloe Ridge District Election held at Joseph Chinoths Beginning on the Sullivan County line on the ridge corner of district No. 13 then with the Sullivan line to the Mouth of Watoga River then up said River to Halls ford where the Stage Road crosses from Jonesborough to Blountville then with said road to Charles Baskets saw mill on little sinking creek then up said creek to where the road crosses from Pactolis to Jonesborough at Ramson Matlocks then with said road to the fork at Isham Matlocks then with that fork crossing the Buffaloe Ridge at Sherwood Vaughn and continuing with said road through Thomas Barrens lane near his house and Straight on to intersect the road leading from the double Springs to Jonesborough then with said road to the ridge at John Cores plantation then along the top of said ridge with a line of the 13th district to the Beginning

 No. 13 Kindricks Creek District Election at John Kincheloes place near Kiblers Meeting house Beginning at the corner of Green County where the Sullivan County line crosses thence with the Sullivan line to the top of the ridge near Captain Copases corner of district No. 12 thence with said district along the top of said ridge to the road leading from the double springs to Jonesborough then with said road to the gap of the ridge near William Jacksons thence with the top of said ridge and Straight on to Ezra Pierces branch below his saw Mill then with said branch to its head at Samuel Bailses then to the Green County line leaving Jesse Mullins in this district thence with the said line to the Beginning

 No. 14 Head of Big Limestone District Election held at Hyram Swanys Mill Beginning at the fork on the road leading to Jonesborough from Pactolis thence with said road to the fork at Isham Matlocks then with the line of district No. 12 crossing the Buffaloe ridge at Sherwood Vaughns and continuing with said road to the road leading from the double springs to Jonesborough thence with said road to the gap near William Jacksons corner of district No. 13 then with a line of the same along the top of the ridge and straight on to Ezra Pierces branch corner of said district then down said branch to the mouth on the north fork of Big limestone then down said fork to the ford then with the Rogersville road to Henry Marshes then up the road toward Martins old place to the first gap in the ridge then a South East course through said gap to a lane between Holloways and the widow Rogerses then a straight line to Charles Bacons then with the line of the Jonesborough district to Ezekiel Lyons leaving him in said district then crossing the ridge and with the lane between Allisons and Hales to the stage road then with said road to the fork at Bradlys then with the road leading to Pactolis to the Beginning

 No. 15 Jonesborough District Election at the Courthouse in Jonesborough Beginning at the one Mile Post South of said Town then by a Straight line to the two Mile Post on the road from Jonesborough to Elizabethton then with said road to the three forks above Stuarts place then by a Straight line to the south of the lane between Allisons and Hales at the stage road then with said lane crossing the ridge to Ezekiel Lyons leaving him in said district No. 15 thence with the line of district No. 14 to Charles Bacons leaving him in the Jonesborough district thence with the district No. 16 to the Leesburgh road then with said road to Daniel Barkleys leaving him in the Jonesborough district thence with the said road to the line of the Corporation of the Town of Jonesborough then with a line of the same and passing the corner to the Beginning

 No. 16 Leesburgh District, Election in the Town of Leesburgh Beginning on the North fork of Big limestone near John Browns at the ford of the creek thence with the road leading to Jonesborough to Henry Marshes thence up the road toward Martins old place to the first gap in the ridge then a South East course through said gap to a lane between Holloway and the Widow Rogers thence a direct line to Charles Bacons thence with the dividing ridge Between Big limestone and little limestone including Samuel Conley Solomon Bales and Joseph Ball all on said ridge in said district No. 16 then a direct course to the Widow Waterbergers spring then down said Spring branch to big limestone thence up Big limestone to the Fork then up the north fork to the Beginning

No. 17 Campbell District Election held at Campbells Schoolhouse Beginning at the Green County line at Big limestone thence up Big limestone to the north fork thence up said fork to the ford of the creek at John Browns where the Jonesborough thence up said creek to the mouth of Ezra Pierces branch then up said branch to the head of Samuel Bailses then with district No. 13 to the Green County line leaving Jesse Mullins in said district No. 13 then with the Green County line to the Beginning,
