Leeroy Taylor – John Campbell House
This house was originally a log cabin. While it has long been known as
the John Campbell house, it is on land once belonging to Leeroy Taylor
and at least one well-informed local historian believed the house was
built by Leeroy Taylor. Over the years additions have been made to the
original building until now the log cabin is entirely surrounded by
added rooms, but with the logs still visible in some rooms. It has been
occupied by descendants of John Campbell for several generations with a
descendant, Mrs. Jo Campbell Keys, now residing there. The house is
located at the end of a lane leading into Muddy Fork Road about a mile
from Leesburg. Leeroy Taylor’s son, William, is buried beside Muddy
Fork Road near its intersection with Fairview Road.
