Deeds –
Deed Book 65, Page 324 – 1883 – J.H. Stallings and wife, M.E. Stallings purchase a 1 acre parcel (206’ X 215’) from William Harr and his wife, Alice Harr.
The Stallings conveyed several house lots from this 1 acre parcel between 1890 and 1907.
The only evidence found that could possibly indicate a burial ground was Deed Book 95, Page 302. On July 25, 1907 J.H. Stallings and his wife, M.E. Stallings conveyed a small 22’ X 24’ parcel to the Unaka Corporation. This appears to be a final piece of the original 1 acre parcel, and would give the Unaka Corporation ownership of all the surrounding property, which they subsequently developed. Plotting of the metes & bounds puts this small parcel just west of the Montrose Court building. Nothing is mentioned about a graveyard, although, given the parcel size, it logically could represent the burial ground mentioned in the WCCL.
