The John W. Snyder Cemetery north of Hwy 23 at Oak Grove was located in front (west) of 153 H.R. King Road. During a conversation with Billy F. Snyder in 2014, (Snyder’s Memorial Gardens), he related that several years ago (he was unsure exactly when), due to some vandalism in the area, he petitioned the court to move his ancestors’ graves to his memorial park a few miles to the west. The markers were also moved and all placed in the section reserved for his family in the southwestern section of the park near Freehill Road.

The original burial location was very near, but not covered by the lake. It had been on the family farm, not very far from the home. It was noted in plat PB3-138 from 1956 and again in plat PB4-102 from 1960, which shows the location a little bit clearer.
In August of 1979, Hampton R. King deeded (DB546/357) to the then owners, Harold & Anna Mays, the plot which had been the cemetery. It is now included in the parcel known as Lot 4 of the H.R. King subdivision noted in the above mentioned plats. It is unknown whether or not the graves were moved at that time or somewhat later. The deed is quiet on that aspect.
All 6 named markers in Charles M Bennett entry 3-46, which was copied in 1977, were found at Snyder’s Memorial Gardens. No markers were found at the old location in December of 2014.
