Lookup Volunteers

Lookup volunteers are listed on this page to help you with information about your ancestors. Help them by following the Lookup Guidelines.

Lookup Guidelines

* Type WASHINGTON CO. LOOKUP in caps in the subject to ensure that your request is not accidently overlooked or deleted.

* In the first line of the message, put the name of the reference material you are requesting the lookup from.

* Please limit your request to one or two specific names. Asking for ALL the marriages, census listings, etc. for a surname will probably be ignored or request denied.

* In your request include the full name of the person (or couple) and the specific information you are looking for.

* Don’t forget to thank your volunteer for their time and effort.

Washington County Volunteers are needed!!! If you are willing to be a Washington Co. Lookup Volunteer, please send your e-mail address and the reference material you will be using for lookups to Margaret Hougland. Please include a brief description of the work and the author or compiler. More than one person may serve as lookup volunteer for the same resource. Come join us! Your help is appreciated.

USGenWeb Official Lookup Policy

USGenWeb will not tolerate any copyright violations. Information given will be minimal, for example if it is a cemetery lookup, the information will be the name of the cemetery and the dates on the headstone. Please do not ask for “everybody with surname X” or an entire family group, or for hardcopies to be mailed; the volunteers have been asked not to comply with such requests. Our lookups will extend to searching the book to determine if the book would be helpful to you in your research. Should the book prove useful, we can provide the authors address and ordering information. The USGenWeb Project will endeavor to get a WRITTEN statement from each copyright holder which stipulates which books may be used for lookups.
