Love (Mary E.) Cemetery
Ellis View

This burial ground is called out in several deeds. Based upon when the burial ground was
first called out in the deed trail, it is believed that it was established by Mary E. Love. Mary was thought to have been born in 1841. The subject property came into the Love family in 1837. It is possible that some of the interred were slaves, but no proof of that has been found. It may be more probable that the burial ground was established after the Civil War, but prior to 1900.

Mary’s father is known to have been named Robert Love. Mary had a son, Jackson Sevier Love. It appears that Mary never married.

LOCATION – About 300’ southeast of the intersection of Cherokee Road (SR67) and Cherokee Mountain Rd. Based upon deed records, the burial ground measures 13-1/5 poles by 3 poles and fronts on Cherokee Mountain Road.

GPS Location: +36 14.960N and -82 25.150W
