Obituary in the Fain Anderson Collection of scrapbooks, Archives of Appalachia, East Tennessee State University, Johnson City, TN

Nancy Francis
The wife of James Francis, of the Eighth district, and daughter of Elijah and Martha Barlow, was born in Washington county, Tennessee, July 1, 1842, and died Oct. 28, 1885.
When 8 years of age she joined the M. E. Church, and afterwards the Brethren, and from that time until her death was a decided, consecrated Christian.
He sickness was very protracted, continuing for six months, but she was very patient, hopeful and resigned in it all.
During her last hours she talked to her children and her Ben, saying: “I am going to leave you all, but I am going to Heaven to see my little children who have gone before.  While I leave four, I will go to three.”  Then the Death Angel came and her spirit was released.
The mortal remains were laid to rest in the Francis graveyard.
“Oh! Cast that Shadow from thy Brow.”
