Note by Dennis Slagle:
Hubert Barnett who has lived near the cemetery all his life says, “It used to be called the Price Cemetery and there used to be bunches of field stone markers in the cemetery that somebody has removed.” Also there was a transcription done in 1955 by Mary Hardin McCown recorded in the Washington County cemetery book that also lists it as the Price Cemetery and she says there were “about 75 rock markers with no inscriptions”. This is probably correct as this cemetery is on land that was once owned by the original Mordecai Price and Rachael Boren Price. A lot of their descendants are probably buried there as they were all given land from Mordecai and lived there.
Anne Price (2-6-1858 – 9-23-1929) is buried there and the grave is marked. She and husband Jim Slagle are both buried there. Anne inherited land close by from her father Mordecai Price (don’t know exactly how much). This Mordecai is, according to my records, the son of Thomas Price, who is the son of the original Mordecai and Rachael. Hubert Barnett is the grandson of Anne and Jim. His parents were Jesse Slagle (Jim and Anne’s daughter) and Geder Barnett. Geder is buried there in a marked grave (don’t know right off hand where Jesse is). He lives down the road about 1/8 mile. Just behind him, his son lives in Ann and Jim’s original house, which was built on Anne’s inherited land.
