Approximately 20 graves marked with fieldstones were found.
The land owner shared a copy of a November 1907 deed from Mack Bailey and Wife to Frank Brown (his ancestor) naming some of the people buried here: “The graves of Philip Broyles and wife and of the two children of Newton Broyles are excepted from this deed.”

Wife Ellender to make my daughters Malinda and Ellender equal to my other daughters Polly Mauk and others. Land adjoining Adam Painter, John Broyles and others granted to me by State of Tennessee 30 September 1835 to be sold if not needed. Polly Mauk, my daughter, to have 18 acres at the head of Maple Swamp on the southside of Chuckey River. Sons John and Mathias have their part which is $1500. Son Lewis has received $850 and is to receive $200 more provided the note on James Allen Esq. can be secured. Son James has received $1000. Sons: Jacob and Ephraim, 246 acres. Son Simeon, 50 acres more. Samuel Mauk has land in his own right. Executrix: Wife Ellender, sons Jacob and Ephraim to assist her. Wit.: Joseph West, Jacob F. Broyles. Their children: Minnie Broyles, Nathaniel Broyles, Walter Broyles. Washington Newton Broyles married 2. Emma C. Miller (a widow, nee Collett) in Washington Co., Tenn., 21 Feb 1880.
