They had property near the Caney Fork and Falling Water

- There was a "Commercial Hotel" in Monterrey, Putnam Co.,
TN. My g g grandfather, Tilbert Ramsey, was the Proprietor. I
have photographs taken in front of the Hotel I'm interested in
the history of the Hotel and the dates of these photos. Tilbert

CARTER
- I would like to communicate with anyone researching the
CARTER family of Middle Tennessee. Specifically, I am
researching the family of Benjamin and Nancy Carter (b. 1835).
They had the following children: Leroy (b. 1862). Elisha (b.
1866), Charlotte (b. 1868), Benjamin R. (b. 1871), Martha (b.
1872), Sarah (b. 1875), Mary, and Joseph. I know only that at
the time of Martha's death in 1938, Joseph resided in Lebanon,
Tennessee and Mary resided in Buffalo Valley, TN and was

- We are looking for any information about a Robert Prentice,
Prentis, Prentiss Family who lived in DeKalb, Smith, and Sevier
Counties, before moving to Putnam County, TN. He may have been
born in VA and married Ann, then Sarah. He served in the East
TN Militia in October 1796. We believe he may have had sons,
William, Jackson (married Rachel), Isaac (married Phadey and
moved to Arkansas), John (may have died in the poor house in
DeKalb County), and Robert (married Elizabeth and had sons
James (DOB 1851) and George W. (DOB 1857 and may have married
Sarah Ann (DOB 1864) and had children Malissa (DOB 1877),
Emiline (DOB 1878), and Arville (DOB 1879). Also. a daughter
Margaret, who married Nicholas Parsley. If anyone with
information on any of these ancestors would please get in touch
with me it would be greatly appreciated. We would even like to
locate the cemeteries where Robert and Sarah are now buried.
They may have first been buried in the area where the Center
Hill Dam was built and their graves moved!

Elizabeth ?(age-17) in the 1860 Putnam co. census. They were
living as neighbors to newly married William NELLON w- Manerva,
and W.W. HARRIS w- Rachel. I believe Elizabeth to be a daughter
of WW Harris by a previous marriage and his mother-in-law was
Martha EMORY. JA MARTIN was from Hancock co. TN and returned
there, as he left his family at Mullberry Gap when he went to
war in 1863. JA was my G-grandfather. Any information

- I'm looking for information on Allie HARP, born 1911 who
married Walter WATTS (born 1908)prior to 1933. Their eldest son
Eugene, my father, was born 17 Nov 1933 in Cookville, Putnam
Co., and I think it's safe to assume Grandma Allie was born
their as well. At some point the family, Allie, Walter, and
their children Eugene, Leon, Marie, and Jim relocated to CA.
I'm told that Allie came from a large family, though my WATTS
side failed to keep up with them. Anyone who can put me in

Carl Barger. I am researching my Gr-Gr-Grandfather, Allen
BARGER and his wife Nancy BULLOCK. I would like to know if
Nancy BULLOCK may have come from your county. I think she may
have married Allen BARGER sometime around 1830-35. Allen lived
in BLEDSOE Co. during the 1837-39 years. He and Nancy had two
children that were listed in the 1840 federal census for Ripley
Co. Mo. Both children gave that they were born in Tn. I would

Nancy MULLINS BROWN died about 1864. Her parents were Lewis and
Ann MULLINS. Daniel and Nancy BROWN's children were Harriet b.
23 Jan. 1852 in Putnam County, John F. b. 2 Feb. 1854, William
H. b. 1856, David Dec. 1859, Daniel W. b. 1863. Daniel moved to
Illinois. Found in 1870 Saline, Ill. census. Calvin Monroe

KENNARD
- KENNARD KINNARD Nancy and her mother Mary (Polly) Kinnard I
am looking for more info esp if Mary Kinnard was in Putnam Co
in 1860 I do not have her maiden name and can go no further I
haqve extensive info in the early Kinnards intheis country but
can not find out if this group of kinnards was the same as the
one from AL Any kinnards in putnam co or Kennards might
know?

RECTOR
- I am looking for descedents of james and Manerva Rector and
their son Isaac I have information on the line going backto
early 1700's and the ancestor John Jacob Rector from Germany
Isaac was 25 in the 1860 census and had 3 wives our line is
from his last wife S.Tennessee BYERS Genelogical book on RECTOR
is quite extensive

- I am looking for Andrew Jackson Graham (b.about 1834),
married to Rebecca Holliman Graham (b. about 1842). They were
in Jackson Co.,TN in 1860, possibly Putnam Co in 1870 and had a
son James Albert born in Macon Co. in 1873. The family was
settled in DeKalb Co. by 1900.

HENRY:
GEORGE, LIDGARD, WILLIAMS, JOHN AND JASPER
- With a lot of help from web friends, I have located many of
my. HENRY family. The earliest I have is George HENRY, b before
1770, d abt 1817 in White County, TN. He married Anne Fine. I
am anxious to learn more about George HENRY and the FINES His
son, John Henry b. 1788 in North Carolina or Tennessee, d abt
1862 in Putnam County, TN. He married Susanna DAY. They had
seven children: Arzella, Cynthia Anne, Joseph, Susan, Elisha
Newton, Nancy, and Lidgard Fine HENRY, who married Nancy THOMAS
was the father of William HENRY b. 1850, married Frances WATSON
b. 1844. (My great grandfather). They had two sons: John S, (my
grandfather), his brother, Jasper and their father, William are
on the 1880 Census of Putnam County. John S HENRY married
Florence MARTIN, (in the 1880s). She was the sister of Julius,
Spurgeon, "Doc", Ett, W. Green, Christopher Columbus, Nancy and
John Gordon MARTIN. They were children of Julius Caesar MARTIN

HALL
- I'm looking for information on Edmund HALL, 1853 - abt.
1905, a Cherokee who settled Putnam County in late 1800's,
married Elizabeth (Bettie) SHIRLEY of the Upper Board Valley
area. An unknown man from Monterey supposedly made a deathbed
confession of killing Edmund about 1905 somewhere between
Crossville and Pikeville.
