researching three names in Tennessee. And having problems with all three. 1. Melzurann Cothran, born about 1867 according to census forms once she hit Arkansas. She married Richard Castleman when she was in her late teens. They settled in Obion County TN and had a couple kids, and then moved on to Arkansas. Thought her daughter (98 yrs old) is still alive, I have no information on her--can anyone help? 2. Richard Castleman was born in Davidson County about 1863. His father's name is William Castleman. William married a Malinda WRIGHT, I think in 1860. I need information on Malinda's parents birthdates, etc. the LDS library has their marriage from the TN marriage records--that's all I can find. Thanks for any help you can give me. Please email me directly at White@nmsua.nmsu.edu. Thank you very much.

However, others of the NEWMAN name appear in the same census and could be relatives. (John did not always give his children correct information about his past, and it is possible his family was also in Lauderdale County in 1860.) He enlisted in Co G, 4th Tn. Have hit a brick wall searching ancestors of James D (Daniel or Dabner maybe) Throckmorton (or could be Thogmartin). Conflicting family stories indicate birth either in TN or MO. Married in Dyer Co. to Loucretia Henryetta Price. Two sons born in TN. William Egbert born Oct 1868 and Marion Edmon born March 1870. Is in the 1870 census in Lauderdale Co., Ripley township. That summer the family migrated to Texas. Loucretia is daughter of James Price and Elizabeth Matthews. She had two brothers John W & Alexander, and two sisters Mary Ann and Lucy Elizabeth. Family gossip says he was in confederate army. Family stories also say he is a cousin to the govenor of Texas. Stories indicate he was either orphaned early, or ran away from home early because mom died and dad remarried. He was illiterate, so I'm not sure if name spelling on records is a phonetic spelling or actual. Both spellings are active in both TN & MO during this time frame. Never spoke about family in later years. It is possible he had a sister, but grandchildren never heard him talk about family. Had a Stratavarious violin he played as a fiddle. Nephews from Oregon or Washington visited in early 1900s and since none of his kids played, he gave them the violin. Family says these nephews (cousins) worked for the government in their homestate. Would greatly appreciate any help breaking this wall down. Thank you!
