MARSH, John was received in the Penitentiary September the fourth eighteen hundred and thirty one. He is five feet seven inches high, thirty one years of age, common weight one hundred and fifty six, black hair, blue eyes, dark skin. Born in No. Carolina and brought up in Powells Valley, Tennessee. His wife resides ten miles from Sparta. His father and mother reside in White County, Tennessee, and his brother in Wayne County, Kentucky. Three small Scars on the back of the neck, and two or three moles on his breast. Was found guilty of Petit larceny at the Circuit Court of White County and Sentenced to one years imprisonment in the Jail and Penitentiary of Tennessee. John MARSH was discharged on the 23d day December 1832. He was detained 100 days for bad conduct. SOURCE: Convict Record Book. 1831-1842. Record Group 25. Volume 45.
