rec'd in the Penitentiary on the fifth day of November On Thousand
eight hundred and thirty four. He is twenty nine years of age,
five feet ten or eleven inches high, & weighs One hundred
& seventy seven pounds. Blue eyes, dark hair, fair complexion,
Tolerable Sharp Nose & face & stout built. Has several
Small scars on the Middle finger of the left Hand. Several small
Moles about the Centre of the Breast and one on the right side
of the neck about 2 inches below the ear. Has chiefly followed
labouring. Was born & raised in Lee County, Virginia &
served a sentence of two or [three?] years in the Kentucky Penitentiary.
His father, Three Brothers and one Sister, now reside together
in Lee County, Va. on a little Creek called Sugar Run about
eight Miles from Jonesville. He also has a Sister Married to
George SCOTT (a farmer) who lives in the Same Nieghbourhood.
He was found guilty of Horse Stealing at the Circuit Court of
Claibourne County & Sentenced to six years Confinement in
the Jail & Penitentiary House of the State of Tennessee.
Thomas ELY gave his coat to Wm CASSELS 16 Feby 1836 in the presence
of Alfred STEWART & G. WHITSON. SOURCE: Convict Record Book,
