DEAN, John A. (#154). When Received: Nov. 8, 1834; Crime: Petit Larceny, From What County: Campbell; Age: 27; Occupation: Shoemaker; Sentence: 3 years; Where Born: Pennsylvania; When Discharged: June 27, 1835; By What Authority: Died of Cholera. DEAN was rec'd in the Penitentiary of the eighth day of November One Thousand eight hundred and thirty four. He is twenty seven years of age, five feet nine inches high & weighs usually from One hundred & fifty to one hundred and fifty six pounds. Black hair, black eyes, dark complexion, Tolerable full face & good Countenance. Has a scar near the out corner of he left eye & one of the left side of his face between the ear & the cheak bone. Was Born in Huntingdon & raised in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, where he served an apprenticeship at the Shoemaking business, which has ever since been his occupation. His Father lives in Chambersburg, Penn. He has a Brother (a Physician) residing in Harrisburg, and a sister married to Wm R. HEWLING (an Attorney) residing in Chambersburg. Had been living in Cam[p]bell County, Tenn. about six Months, when he was found guilty of Petit Larceny at the Circuit Court of that County & sentenced to Three years Confinement in the Jail & Penitentiary House of the State of Tennessee.
