Military Units from Campbell County   The following information was obtained from Tennesseans in the Civil War - Part 1 1st Tennessee Volunteer Infantry Regiment, USA (also known as 1st East Tennessee Infantry Regiment and 1st East Tennessee Mounted Infantry Regiment). Officers and Staff Company A - Enrolled at Jacksboro, Campbell County on August 2, 1861. Mustered at Williamsburg, KY on  August 8, 1861. Company B - Enrolled at Jacksboro, Campbell County on August 1, 1861. Mustered at Barboursville, KY on August 16, 1861. Company C - Enrolled at Tazewell, Claiborne County, August 9, 1861; mustered at Barboursville, August 17, 1861. (Some men from Campbell County). 2nd Tennessee Volunteer Infantry Regiment, USA (See Dave Mathew's Pages) (also known as 2nd East Tennessee Infantry Regiment and 2nd East Tennessee Mounted Infantry Regiment). Company C - Enrolled at Clinton, Anderson County, August 7, 1861; mustered in at Barboursville, Kentucky, August 21, 1861; mustered out at Knoxville, October 6, 1864.  Company H - Enrolled at Jacksboro, Campbell County in November and December, 1861. Mustered in at Camp Somerset, KY on December 31, 1861. Mustered out at Knoxville on November 25, 1864. 6th Tennessee Volunteer Infantry Regiment, USA (also know as 6th East Tennessee Infantry Regiment). Company F - Mustered in at Boston, KY on March 10, 1862. Mustered out March 24, 1865. Men primarily from Campbell County. Company G - Enrolled in Knox County. Mustered in Camp Pine Knot, Campbell County on May 18, 1862. Mustered out May 17, 1865. 2nd Tennessee Cavalry Regiment, USA (also know as 2nd East Tennessee Cavalry Regiment). Company A - Organized at Jacksboro, Campbell County, August 1, 1862; moved to Cumberland Gap. 9th Tennessee Cavalry Regiment, USA Officers and Staff Company L - Mustered at Nashville, February 29, 1864. Men from Knox, Jefferson, Hancock, Sevier, Campbell, Claiborne, Cocke, Monroe, Sullivan and Grainger Counties. 7th Tennessee Mounted Infantry Regiment, USA Company G - Enrolled at Clinton, and at Jacksboro, Campbell County in November 1864; mustered in at Nashville, March 7, 1865. 4th (East) Tennessee Cavalry Regiment, USA.
