Lindsey’s Chapel Church & Cemetery is located in Lauderdale County north of Florence, Alabama on Alabama Highway # 157 approximately 1 mile south of Cypress Inn, Tennessee on the west side of the highway.

The church was built approximately 55 years ago with donations from residents of the community. Mr. Albert Lindsey, buried here, spearheaded the move to build the church. The church was built as a community church with no particular denominational ties. There are Confederate, World War II and Korean War veterans buried here. The oldest known grave is 1867. The oldest known person buried here was born in 1836. There are 20 graves with no headstones or information.

All names and dates were recorded from headstones and markers. They have been diligently checked for accuracy. The cemetery is well taken care of. This survey was completed August 02, 2003.

To reach this cemetery from Collinwood, Tennessee, travel south on Tennessee highway 13 for 4 miles, Turn right off of highway 13 and left (south) onto the Natchez Trace Parkway. Go about 2 miles and turn right onto Big Cypress Road. Go past Scotts Chapel Free Will Baptist Church and continue for 2.1 miles. The cemetery is on the left side of the road near the intersection of Big Cypress Road & J.B. Pigg Road.

This cemetery is in south/central Wayne County, Tennessee just off the Natchez Trace Parkway on Big Cypress Road. There are at least 16 graves in this cemetery marked only by fieldstones.

Kyle Grave

Located on the hill in front of J. Erving and Ermadine RILEY’s house is a grave with a hewn stone laid on top. The story is that this is the grave of a KYLE boy, age 12, son of James KYLE and was placed there about 1830.

LOCATION: In the old garden behind the Kendrick-Morrow-Morrison House on North High Street, Waynesboro, Tennessee

Other tombstones at this site were reportedly removed and destroyed sometime in the 1920-1930 period. Only the stone of Col. W. P. Kindrick remains and it is not visible, but is buried at the grave site.

Kelly Cemetery

LOCATION: About 2 miles east of the Natchez Trace on Factory Creek at Jay McWilliams house. House was once a church house.

Mr. George McGee, and also a lady living near the cemetery stated that the remains of Thomas A. Kelly & Freemon F. Kelly were moved from the Kelly Cemetery #231 to the Gallaher Cemetery #175 about two years ago. As I understand it, that leaves no graves at the Kelly Cemetery site. – David Montgomery (7 Dec 2008)
