Collision Fatal To Mrs. Barnes          

A collision involving a pickup truck and a semi-trailer transport near Painesville, Ohio late Thursday afternoon claimed the life of a former resident of Warren county. Fatally injured in the collision was Mrs. Martha Driver Barnes, 54, widow of John T. Barnes. She had made her home in Painesville for the past two years.   According to information received here., Mrs. Barnes was riding in a pickup truck with her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Doris Maynard Barnes, and a granddaughter, Janice Barnes, when the truck collided with the semi-trailer. Mrs. Barnes was killed instantly and the daughter-in-law and grand-daughter were injured and are now confined to Lake County Memorial Hospital in Painesville.  The remains of Mrs. Barnes were returned here for burial, arriving Saturday evening at 8:30 o’clock.  Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock at Smyrna Church of Christ. T.F. Gilly officiated and burial was in Smyrna cemetery. 

A native of Warren county, Mrs. Barnes was born September 18, 1898. She was married to Mr. Barnes, who died 12 years ago. Mrs. Barnes was a member of the Church of Christ.  Survivors include two sons, Robert Barnes, Painesville, Ohio, and Clifford Barnes, Winter Garden, Fla.; four daughters, Misses Iona, Ruby, and Sylvia Barnes, Painesville, and Mrs. J.D. Hill, Winter Garden.  Also six granchildren. High Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
