Joel M. Barnes Wreck Victim 

Sparta, Tenn. Jan. 25 (Special) Joel M. Barnes, until recently principal of the high school here, and elected President of the Tennessee Public School Officers’ Association at the session in Nashville this month, was killed in an automobile accident at Eau Gallie, Fla., Sunday night, according to a telegram received here this morning.  Mr. Nowlin , his brother-in-law, who was with him at the time, was uninjured, the telegram stated.  Mr. Barnes, a native of Cookville, was principal of the high school here for many years, resigning on January 15, when he, Mr. Nowlin and “Sheep” Frazier, proprietor of a local filling station, left on a trip for Florida. The telegram received here this morning from Mr. Frazier gave no details of the fatal accident.  Mr. Barnes who was about forty years old leaves a wife, who is here.  He had many friends in the county.
