James Leeper Deed to John Endsley (1821)

This Indenture made this sixth day of December 1821 Between James Leeper of the County of Bedford and State of Tennessee of the one part and John Endsley of the State and County aforesaid of the other part.

Witnesseth that the s’d James Leeper for and in Consideration of the Sum of Seven hundred Dollars to me in hand paid by the aforesaid John Endsley, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, Hath bargained sold and conveyed to the s’d John Endsley a certain Tract or parcel of Land lying in the County of Bedford & State of Tennessee as above on the Head water of Rock Creek, South waters of Duck River, it being a Part of a Tract of Land granted to Minos Cannon, Sen by Grant No. 468, Fifteen hundred & forty acres.

Beginning at the South East corner on a large Beech on the (??not legible) Running West One hundred & fifty two poles to a Sugartree and Ash on Samuel Woods line, thence North with Said Woods line one hundred Seven & 3/4 poles to a stake & pointers, Beech & Cherry Tree & Sugartree, thence East one hundred and forty six poles to a stake & pointers, Three Sugartrees on the Section Line, thence along the Section Line one hundred Seven poles to the place of Beginning. Containing one hundred acres, be the same, more or less, the s’d lines running to (words not legible)

To Have and to Hold the s’d Land and premises to said John Endsley, his heirs & assigns forever Together with all & singular the improvements, ways, Water courses and appurtenances appertaining thereunto belonging. And the said James Leeper doth agree to & With the said John Endsley that the (not legible) Land bargained premises he will warrant and forever defend against all Persons whomsoever lawfully claiming the same in law or otherwise as……

I James McKisick, Clerk of the Court of Pleas and Quarter Sessions of the County aforesaid do hereby certify that the Execution of the within deed of conveyance from James Leeper to John Endsley was acknowledged in Open Court by the said James Leeper and ordered to be Certified for Registration.
