DRIVER, Yancey – (d. 1938)

Funeral services for Yancy Driver, aged 72 years, were conducted this (Thursday) afternoon by Elder C. B. Massey, followed by burial in Underwood Cemetery. He had been a member of the Underwood Methodist Church for a number of years.

Mr. Driver died Wednesday afternoon after several months of ill health from infirmities incident to old age. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Martha E. Driver, and the following children: Mrs. Radford Doss, of Underwood; Misses Eula and Gertie Driver, who resides with their mother; C. C. Driver of Red Boiling Springs; and Hubert Driver of Franklin, KY. Mr. Driver was a good man, loved and esteemed by all who knew him.

DRIVER, Martha Elizabeth Bandy – (d. 1951)

Obituary: Mrs. Martha Driver Dies at Her Home

Mrs. Martha Elizabeth Bandy Driver, aged 81 years, passed away at her home in the Underwood section at 2:30 a.m. Thursday morning. She had been under the care of a physician since December. Her death was attributed to infirmities incident to old age. However, she was apparently recovering and retired at an early hour Wednesday night, seemingly feeling much improved. Her sudden passing is thought to have been caused by a heart attack.

She was the last of the children of Wesley L and Margaret Binion Bandy. The last sister, Mrs. Tint Blankenship, preceding her in death about 7 months ago. She is survived by the following children: two sons, C. C. Driver of Red Boiling Springs, and Hobart Driver, living near his mother; three daughters, Mrs. Babe Fishburn of Lafayette, R. 4; Mrs. Radford Doss of the Oak Know section; and Miss Gertie Driver, who lived with her mother and cared for her in her passing years; eleven grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren also survive. She professed faith in Christ early in life and she, with her husband, joined the Underwood Methodist Church about 22 years ago where she remained a member until death. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 2:00 p.m. by Rev. J. L. Hale of Westmoreland, her former pastor. Burial will be in Underwood.

DRIVER, Carl Cleon – (d. 1999)

Carl Cleon Driver, age 81, of the Akersville Community, died Saturday, May 9, 1999 at University Medical Center in Lebanon, TN. He was born Saturday, October 20, 1917, in Macon County, TN, a son of the late Burl Driver and Victoria Doss Driver, and was a member of Akersville Baptist Church. He was a barber for many years, having formerly operated a barber shop in Lafayette, and barbered from his home on Thursday nights. He was a carpenter and a retired school bus driver for the Macon County School System and the Allen County Board of Education. Carl was a bass singer for the Christianaires Quartet for 30 years. On February 2, 1936, he was married to Genie Jones Driver, who died March 1, 1984.

Survivors include three daughters and two sons-in-law; Lillian Maurice and Donald Roark and Glenna Mitchell Driver, all of the Akersville; Mary Levy and Melburn Cothron, Dixon Springs, TN; one sister Oneda Jent, Indianapolis, IN; three brothers Eatol Driver, Russellville, KY; Merlin Driver, Lafayette, TN; Glenn Driver, Indianapolis, IN; five grandchildren, Larry Cothron, Shelbyville, TN; Troy Cothron, Dixon Springs, TN; Connie Shrum, Tim Roark and Donna Dotts, all of Lafayette, TN; and ten great grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents he is also preceded in death by two brothers, Blon Driver and Billy Driver.

Funeral services were conducted 2:00 pm, Monday, May 10, 1999 at the Akersville Baptist Church with Rev. Henry Smith officiating. Burial was in the Akersville Cemetery. Pallbearers were Larry Cothron, Troy Cothron, Tim Roark, Larry Driver, Jimmy Driver, Tom Driver, and Ricky Driver. Alexander-Goad Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

DRIVER, Burl Johnson – (d. 1983)

Obituary: Funeral Services Held for Burl Johnson Driver

Burl Johnson Driver, age 90, of the Underwood Community, passed away Saturday afternoon, June 4, 1983, at Macon County General Hospital. He was a native of Macon County, the son of the late Billy and Betty Bandy Driver. His wife Victoria Doss Driver, passed away in 1958. Three children preceded him in death, Blon Driver, Billy Driver and Glenda Driver.

He was a retired farmer, a member of the White Oak Church of Christ. He is survived by 4 sons, Carl Driver of Fountain Run, KY; Eatol Driver of Russellville, KY; Merlin Driver of Lafayette, and Glen Driver of Indianapolis, Ind; one daughter, Mrs. Oneda Jent of Indianapolis; 14 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren.  Alexander Funeral Home, Lafayette, in charge of arrangements

DOSS, Verlie Napier – (d. 1975)

Obituary: Funeral Services for Mrs. Verlie Doss, 80, Set for Today

Funeral services for Mrs. Verlie Napier Doss, 80, will be held today (Thursday) at 11:00 at White Oak Church of Christ by John Carter Holland. Burial will be in the Underwood Cemetery.

Mrs. Doss died Tuesday afternoon at Smith-Chitwood hospital after a long illness.
She was a native of Allen County, KY., daughter of John and Martha Napier. She was a member of the Church of Christ.  Survivors include 3 sons, John and Dessie Doss, Lafayette; Charlie Doss, Indianapolis; a brother Joe Napier, Lafayette; a sister Lula Doss, Lafayette; 17 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren. Alexander Funeral Home, Lafayette, was in charge of arrangements.

DOSS, Robert – (d. 1952)

Obituary: Robert Doss Dies at Home of Son

Robert Doss, a respected 72 year old farmer of the Puncheon Creek section of the county, died suddenly about 5:30 Tuesday afternoon at the home of his son, John Doss, in the Oak Knob community of the county. Death was attributed to a sudden heart attack. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Verlie Napier Doss; 3 sons, the other 2 being Charlie Doss of Indianapolis, and Dennie Doss, of the Walker Springs section of the county; 16 grandchildren; 3 brothers, Wilson Doss of the Underwood section; Hubert Doss of Indianapolis; and William Doss of Red Hill; and 2 sisters Mrs. Lizzie King and Mrs. Vicki Driver, both of the Underwood community.

Burial is to be made Friday afternoon at one o’clock in the Underwood Cemetery, with funeral services conducted by Elder John Carter Holland, of the Church of Christ of which the deceased had been a devoted member for a number of years. He was the son of Bittie and Polly Blankenship Doss, and was a native of the Puncheon Creek section.
