Mrs. Eleanor Elizabeth Hurst, age 82 of Nashville, Tennessee, went to be with the Lord on May 10, 2023.
Eleanor was born on July 29, 1940, in Dalton, Georgia, to the late Raymond Clinton Walker, Sr. and Elizabeth Showalter Walker. Eleanor is predeceased in death by her late husband Mr. Gerald Franklin Hurst of 58 years and her sisters, Sammy Walker and Alice Boyd. Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Brad Hurst of Nashville, Tennessee, daughter, Sandra Johnson (Charlie) of Springhill, Tennessee, brother Raymond Walker (Marilyn) of Gallatin, Tennessee, brother Tim Walker (Glenda) of Texas, and three beautiful grandchildren, Lawson, Grace, and Amelia.
Eleanor was a graduate of Gallatin High School and David Lipscomb Collage. Eleanor retired from Lipscomb University after 21 years and was the Director of Development Information Systems. She also worked at Sears and Roebuck for 11 years and had her own needlepoint finishing business for 13 years. She was a selfless, caring, and loving wife, mother, and friend. She loved her husband, son, daughter, and grandchildren with all her heart. She loved to sing and for many years the house was filled with her voice singing songs. She loved to travel with Gerald and to see this beautiful country; she visited every state but two. She was a member of the Crieve Church of Christ in Nashville, Tennessee.
A Celebration of Life with singing will be planned at a later date.
