Grover, Geneva Ann Fain
Geneva Ann Fain Grover, age 89, passed away peacefully on March 20, 2026. She was born on February 13, 1937, on Cane Creek in Lewis County, Tennessee, to the late John Thomas Fain and Lois Bullion Fain.
Geneva’s life was a testament to hard work, devotion, and a deep love for her family and community. At just 15 years old, she married the love of her life, Logan Grover, beginning a lifelong partnership built on dedication and faith. She later graduated from Lewis County High School in 1956, continuing to build a life rooted in service and connection.
A gifted cook and entrepreneur, Geneva was well known throughout the community for her talents in the kitchen. She worked as a caterer for over 30 years and participated in craft shows until the early 2000s. Her famous “Geneva’s fried pies” became a local favorite-still talked about and fondly remembered by many today. From 1975 until 2006, she proudly owned and operated Grover’s Market in Hampshire, where she served generations of families with both goods and warm conversation.
Earlier in life, Geneva worked at Henry I. Siegel until she chose to dedicate her time to raising her children. She later continued her service to the community through her work with Lewis County Schools, where she served as a substitute librarian and secretary at the high school.
Faith played a central role in Geneva’s life. She began attending church at the age of 13, first at Pineview Church of Christ from 1952 to 1964, and then faithfully at Little Swan Church of Christ from 1964 until this past Sunday. Her commitment to her church family remained steadfast throughout her life.
Geneva was also deeply involved in civic and service organizations. She was a devoted member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Hohenwald-Linden Chapter #496, for an incredible 68 years. During that time, she faithfully held various offices, served as Worthy Matron multiple times, and received numerous Grand Chapter appointments. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution in Sparks, Nevada, the Huguenot Society of Nevada since July 6, 1996, and was involved in the Home Demonstration Club and Hohenwald Town and Country.
Above all, Geneva loved people. She found joy in talking, visiting, cooking, and serving others. Her home, her business, and her presence were always places of warmth and welcome.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Logan Grover; Logan’s parents, W.P. and Mamie Grover; siblings, Reba White, Sarah Fain, Leon Fain, and Johnnie Fain.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her daughters, Susan (Jim) Pennington, Kim Smotherman, Tara (Tim) McNeely Westbrook; her grandchildren, Abby (Larry) Chapman, Lucas (Mary Katherine) Smotherman, Tess (Juan Pablo Barraza) McNeely, and Logan McNeely; great-grandchildren, Preston Chapman, Eli Chapman, Millie Smotherman, Nolan Smotherman, Grant Smotherman, and Cade Smotherman; brother-in-law, Garland White; special friend, Wilma Szostek; along with her church family, many nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.
