Ayers, Jerry Wade
Jerry Wade Ayers was born April 3, 1958 in Hohenwald, to the union of the late Herman Alva and Lesbie Arnell Sherrill Ayers. He was united in marriage to Stephanie Daniel on July 24, 1987. These two were blessed with two daughters, Shelena and Kelsey. Mr. Jerry loved spending time outdoors and especially loved spending time riding horses. In his younger years, he also enjoyed spending time in the woods with his coondogs and on the racetrack. His greatest pleasure in this life came from time he was able to spend with his four grandchildren. Mr. Jerry departed this life on Saturday, April 4, 2026 in Nashville, making his stay in this life some 68 years and 1 day.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Stephanie Daniel Ayers of Waynesboro, two daughters, Shelena Norris and husband Jonathan of Mt. Juliet, TN: Kelsey Mathis and husband Cody of Waynesboro, four grandchildren, Gage and Ember Mathis, Emmett and Wyatt Norris. Sister-in-law, Judy Ayers of Collinwood, brothers-in-law, Anthony Daniel and wife Lisa of Waynesboro, Steve Daniel and wife Tabitha of Smyrna, Tim Daniel and wife Teresa of Florence, Alabama; mother-in-law, Barbara Daniel of Cypress Inn, nieces and nephews, Jerri “Jerdie” Ayers of Collinwood, Bronson Ayers and wife Kandee of Waynesboro, Corbin Ayers of Cookeville, Brad Daniel of Florence, Alabama; Brittney Daniel and fiancé Ben of Muscle Shoals, Alabama; Dakota Daniel and wife Emily of Murfreesboro, Skyler Daniel and Destiny Daniel both of Smyrna.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, J.H. and Larry Ayers; sister-in-law, Francine Daniel; and father-in-law, Raymond Daniel.
Visitation with they Ayers family was on Tuesday, April 7, 2026 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again on Wednesday, April 8, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. until service time at 1:00 p.m. at Bates-Love Funeral and Cremation chapel in Waynesboro.
Funeral Services were on Wednesday, April 8, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at Bates-Love Funeral and Cremation Chapel with Greg Eaton and Bobby Carroll officiating. Burial followed in the Collinwood Memorial Gardens.
