Cowan, Opal Lee
Opal Lee Cowan, age 93, of Michie, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on April 2, 2026. She was born on March 9, 1933, in Hohenwald. She was the daughter of the late Levi Stephens and Bessie Mae Barber Stephens. She married the love of her life, Doles Marmaduke Cowan, in 1953.
Opal cherished a simple and meaningful life, finding happiness in her flowers, tending her garden, cooking for those she loved, and spending time outdoors.
She is survived by her children, Roy Cowan (Kathy Davis), Arnold Cowan (Carol), Jimmy Cowan (Barbee), and Timmy Cowan (Hollie); her grandchildren, Jonathan, Melinda, Bethany, Matthew, Annie, Luke, Solomon, David, Kala, Levi, and Kristen; and 11 great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved dearly.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Duke; two grandchildren, an infant, and Samuel Cowan; her siblings, Ottis Stephens, Franklin Stephens, Delphia Stephens, Mary Sue Stephens, Annie Lou Yzaguirre, and Lola Bullion.
Visitation was held at McDonald Funeral Home on Monday, April 6, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Burial followed in Stephens Cemetery.
