Henderson County, Tennessee November 11, 1838 Green A. Davis, I now set down to inform you that we are well and hope that this lines will find you well. We received your letter the 8th of November, 1838 and was glad to hear from you but had rather seen you. We have gotten in our corn and I think with care, we shall have enough to do us as dry as it was. Father and mother did not go to North Carolina but says they will go next summer. Uncle Edward Montgomery sent us a leter and stated that they was all willing for an equal division. I must tell you the death of Mr. Kennon who died the 8th day of September. You must come home and I wil go with you to Black Hawk. W. L. Morris is married and in Peryville keeping a taven, and Frank has dug a well on his claim and James has got a pen full of corn, and us and John both has got baril of craut. Matthew Hill Davis
