We are glad to learn that this “city of the dead” is to be repaired and put in a condition creditable to our people. The Masonic and Odd Fellow fraternities have appointed a joint committee for the purpose of having the yard and walks cleaned and the lots newly staked. The committee consists on the part of the Masons, of J. J. DUPUY, A. P TILLER and J. R. BYNUM and on the part of the Odd Fellows, of R. G. CRAWFORD, who will be pleased to meet all persons interested at the cemetery next Wednesday evening at 3 o’clock. It is to be hoped that our citizens will attend and point out their lots, and thus aid the committee to its laudable work.

The 37th anniversary meeting of this Society took place at the Presbyterian church on Sunday, 13th inst. at which time the following offices were elected for the ensuing year: W. D. WILKERSON, president; Thomas C. JONES, vice-president; J. R. BYNUM, corresponding secretary; J. T. GRAHAM, treasurer; R. S. HARDY, John WARREN, W. T. MYERS, J. A. BAKER, and W. R. WHITE, executive committee.

Wide awake J. R. BYNUM has succeeded in making lightning connection with the depot, and is prepared to attack the battery of George M. Dugan on all occasions. Persons who desire to transmit telegrams should call on BYNUM as he has “der machine” in working order, and proposed to accommodate the public, or “any other man.
