Obituary of Gordon Irene Baker, 1992:

Gordon Irene Owens Baker, 82, of the Dutch Valley Community, Clinton Rt. 5, died Jan. 26 at her home.

Her parents were the late George and Mary Avis Owens.  She was born Feb. 17, 1909, in Alabama.  A homemaker, Mrs. Baker was a member of the First Dutch Valley Baptist Church.  She enjoyed her grandchildren, gardening and gospel singing.

Her husband, William Franklin Baker, died in 1982.  A daughter and a son, Mary Evelyn Guy and Macklin G. Baker; two sisters, Maude Owens and Sebina Moore; four brothers, Jim, John, Jonas and Mitt Owens, preceded her in death.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Lalar and Roy Silcox of Dutch Valley; nine grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Jan. 28 at First Dutch Valley Baptist Church with the Rev. Tommy McCool officiating.  Burial was in Tennessee Valley Memory Gardens.  Martin Clinton Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
