Obituary of Alonzo Phillips, 1992:

Alonzo (Lonnie) Phillips, 64, of Lake City, died Jan 27 at Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge.

An Anderson County native, he was a retired coal miner and a member of the UMWA.  He was a life long resident of the county.

His parents, Tom and Oma Daugherty Phillips; a sister, Peline Phillips; and brothers, Arzo and Louie Phillips, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Itress Hunter Phillips of Lake City; daughters, Dorothy Phillips of Oak Ridge; Mary Leinart of Briceville; Karen Miles of Claxton; Barbara Williams of Lake City; Oma Taylor, Shirley Hatmaker and Sharla Phillips of Toledo, Ohio; sons, Robert Phillips of Briceville; Herbert Phillips, Lonnie Phillips and David Phillips, all of Lake City; sisters, Hazel Buhl of Lake City; Mae Daugherty, Litha Kennedy, both of Dutch Valley; 33 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Mountain Assembly Church of God in Lake City with Pastor Roger Powell and Pastor Edwin Phillips officiating.  Burial will be in Little Community Baptist Church Cemetery in Dutch Valley.  The family will receive friends Wednesday (tonight) 6 to 9 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home in Lake City.
