Obituary of Oma Phillips, 1992:

Oma Phillips, 83, Lake City, died Sept. 9 at the Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.

She was born May 9, 1909 in Anderson County, and was a lifelong resident of the area.

Mrs. Phillips was a homemaker and enjoyed sewing, cooking, crocheting and quilting.

Her parents were the late Dan and Hannah Daugherty.  Her husband, Thomas Phillips, also preceded her in death.

Survivors include three daughters, Pearl Daugherty of Medford; Hazel Buhl of Lake City; and Litha Kennedy of Dutch Valley; three sons, Ulys Phillips of Fraterville; Tommy and Onzie Phillips, both of Dutch Valley; 30 grandchildren; and a brother, Scott Daugherty of Florida.

Funeral services were held Sept. 12 in the Church of God of the Mountain Assembly in Lake City with the Rev. Roger Powell officiating.  Burial was in Bunch Cemetery.  Martin Funeral Home in Lake City was in charge of arrangements.
