Perry County Families – archived

Between 1820 and 1845 Perry County included most of the area which is now Decatur County, Tennessee. Many families which appear in early Perry County records lived west of the Tennessee River. Some of these families may be found on a separate Family Page for Decatur County. Families commonly found in early Perry County records which are mostly or entirely on the west side of the river include, but are not limited to, Brasher (Brashear), Derryberry, Finch, Fisher, Graham, Hensley, Houston, Roberts, Rushing, Vice/Vise, White.

  1. Looking for the Brown family! The census for 1820,30,40,50,60,70, shows Joseph and Tabitha (My Great Great Great Grandparents)with his family in Perry Co., TN. Joseph b.1786 North Carolina, Tabitha Gorman b.1787 Georgia; children: Henry C. (my Great Great Grandfather) b. Oct. 1829 in Perry Co., TN. m. Sarah Jane Craig b. 1830 d. 1888 – 2nd wife; Theresa M. b. Oct. 1840 d. 1899 married in 1888 to Henry C.Brown; children continued: H.H. Brown b. 187l; I.C. Brown b. 1855; Irwin Socratees Brown b. 1854; James C. Brown b. 1870, Lucius A. Brown b. 1866; Oroville Augustus Brown b. Feb. 18, 1859; Palace Brown (I think he died young, can you find his cemetary plot?) b. 1857; Parallee M. (Parlie) Brown m.(NALL)b. 1855, Roy Basil Brown b. 1864; Atlantic C. (Suzie) Brown b. 1853 and my Great Grandfather Joseph Eason Brown b. May 30, 1858 d. 1905. I am also planning a trip to visit Perry Co., TN soon. Please contact me regarding information on the family. Also, the Craig family. I do know Henry C. and Sarah Jane moved to Clinton, KY shows on the 1880,1900,1910,1920 Census. Thanks for your help!
