WASSMAN, Emil, county tax assessor Hamilton Co.; born New York, Oct. 19, 1865; son of Joseph and Hortense (Strauss) WASSERMAN; graduated University of Tenn. in 1885; entered mercantile business in early life; member of Odd Fellows, Elks, Royal Arcanum and Eagles; internal revenue gauger 1889-93; elected city auditor of Chattanooga in 1894; re-elected in 1896; former revenue commissioner; elected county tax assessor Hamilton Co. 1908 for term of four years; father was Joseph WASSERMAN (deceased) Mayor of Chattanooga from 1899 to 1901.
