ROGERS, Jesse L., attorney at law; born Speedwell, Tenn., April 9, 1855; son of Jesse and Margaret (Wilson) ROGERS; English, German descent; father’s occupation farmer; educated common schools of Claiborne Co.; graduated law Dept. Cumberland University LL. B., Jun 10, 1874; married Annie McFetridge Oct. 24, 1877; member K. of P.; (Past Chancellor) Orient Lodge 68; B. P. O. E. No. 160 Knoxville; Cumberland Club; elected to legislature from Hancock and Claiborne Counties Nov. 1876 and from Knox Co., 1896; delegate from 1st Congressional District to National Republican Convention of 1880 and from 2nd District in 1896; has been Director in banks, dry goods business, lumber business and has investments in City property, farming and timber lands.
