EVE, Duncan, surgeon; born Augusta, Ga., May 1, 1853; Scotch-Irish descent; son of Paul F. and Sarah Ann (Duncan) EVE; father was a surgeon; paternal grandparents Oswell and Aphra Ann (Pritchard) EVE, maternal grandparents H. D. and Mary (Irwin) DUNCAN; educated University of Nashville and Kentucky Military Institute; graduated University of Nashville, B.S., 1871; Bellevue Hospital Medical College, M.D., 1874; Greeneville and Tusculum College, A.M., 1882; married Alice NORTON, 1876; Mason (K. T.); member Hermitage Club, Nashville; was Surgeon General of Tennessee, 1878-79; Professor Surgery, Medical Department, Vanderbilt University; Chief Surgeon N. C. & St. L. Railway, Division Surgeon L. & N. Railway; ex-President of Nashville Academy of Medicine and Davidson County Medical Society; ex-President of the Mississippi Valley Medical Society; First Vice-President American Medical Association; contributor to American Practice of Surgery, Park’s Surgery, American Reference Handbook, etc.
