On August 10, 2018 the Warren County Genealogical Association officially became the Warren County Genealogical & Historical Association.

Because our ancestors are a part of our history and our history is a part of our ancestors.  You cannot follow your genealogical roots and separate the history that is synonymous with this undertaking.  Established in 1992, the WCGHA has not only been involved in preserving our genealogies but also in preserving our history through the documentation of our homes, businesses, churches, cemeteries, maps, and our communities.  The purpose of our name change recognizes this aspect and expands our focus to include historical items and the history of these items.

Our mission is to increase public interest in and raise the standards of genealogical and historical research through educational programs, workshops and publications and to promote the collection and the preservation of manuscripts, documents, and other material of genealogical and historical value.

Through this mission we hope to collect, preserve, index and make available genealogical and historical materials, especially those relating to Warren County and surrounding counties in
Tennessee.

Membership in the WCGHA is open to anyone who is interested in genealogy and/or the history of Warren and surrounding counties.

The Association meets monthly at 2 p.m. on the 3rd Saturday of each month except December in the Warren County Administration Building at 201 Locust Street, McMinnville, TN.  The public is invited to attend.  You can follow our activities on our Facebook page “Warren County Genealogical & Historical Association” and our sponsored group “WCGHA’s Old Warren County, TN Family History/Photos”.
