The High Funeral Home Collection is a joint effort between the Warren County Genealogical and Historical Association (WCGHA) and High Funeral Home to offer access to records beginning as early as 1889.  These records contain both ledger and death records beginning in 1933. These records may contain a variety of information such as date of death, cause of death, age (or birth date), place of death, burial location, family members, minister, doctor, etc.  Early ledger information is often sparse.

High Funeral Home was established in 1925 by John Winston High and is the oldest funeral home currently in operation in Warren County.  Records date back to the Lively Furniture Company where Mr. High began his career in the funeral service in McMinnville.  These records were used extensively to produce the Warren County Cemetery Books and have provided local researchers with a wealth of information through the years.

Indexes to the first four ledgers are online.  Additional ledgers and death records will be added as time permits.  It is our hope that researchers will find this information useful to their areas of interest.  The published indexes provide a name, date of death and the number of pages in the individual records and can be downloaded as a searchable pdf file.  Records can be ordered from the Association (printed copies only at this time) or purchased at the Association office.  The office is open on Monday and Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.  The Association can be contacted by phone at 931.474.4227 or by email at wcgha [dot] tn [at] gmail [dot] com.
