Praters Chapel (Old Warrington) Cemetery

Location of the cemetery is as follows: From Clifton, TN take Linden Highway 128 to Morrison Creek Road Highway 228. Approximately 1 to 2 miles Praters Chapel Church is on the left side of the road, the cemetery is behind the Church. There is a road around the cemetery and through the middle. We divided the cemetery into 4 sections. Section 1 (new section) is outside the perimeter of the road to the north. Section 2 is from the back by the woods to the grave of Rosanna Warrington (oldest tombstone in the cemetery). Section 3 from Rosanna to the road west (Jeter Road). Section 4 is by Highway 228 behind the church and southeast of the picnic area. Comments are by writers.

(NOTE – My grandmother, Dorothy Helen Hoke is buried there. She is listed as Dorothy H. Coxwell. Coxwell was the name she kept after her divorce from her third husband, Fred V. Coxwell. Her stone reads: Coxwell, Dorothy H., 1905-1981. She was born in New York November 21, 1905 and died in Clifton, Tennessee March 10, 1981. Dorothy Hoke lived in Clifton, Tennessee from 1977 or 1978 until her death.

“Two markers near the grave read: M.E.P. and C.P.P. On a foot stone C.P.P.”

“C.P.P.” denotes the markers for my father Claude Penrod Perry (he is the son of Dorothy Hoke’s marriage to her second husband, Claude Roland Perry, who she divorced in 1937). The other denotes the marker for my mother, Mary Elizabeth Clanton. Both of my parents are alive and well currently in Chattahoochee, Fl where Mom works for the State of Florida as a Psychiatric Nurse and Dad is in retirement. – Claude P Perry II, 10 June 2008.)

Catherine Temple Patterson may also be buried in this cemetery, however there is no
proof.

LOCATION: This cemetery is located in a remote area on private property. The cemetery is east of Green River on a small knoll over looking the river bottom. It is southwest of the Meredith Cemetery on the old JD King farm.

Piney Grove Church Cemetery

Location:  Lat: 35/06/20N, Lon: 87/50/42W To get to the cemetery, from Collinwood, Tennessee, travel Tennessee Hwy. 13 south 4.1 miles and exit onto the Natchez Trace Parkway south. Go south on the parkway 1.3 miles. Turn right (west) onto Piney Road (1st road to the right) and go 4.6 miles to the cemetery. It is on the left side of the road across from the church.

Piney Grove Cemetery is located in Wayne County Tennessee southwest of Collinwood. The church and cemetery are located on Piney Road. The cemetery is across the road from Piney Grove Free Will Baptist Church. George & Nancy Vickery deeded the original one-acre of land for the cemetery and original church on September 13, 1909. Mr. John Weems deeded two more acres on March 18 1916. More land was deeded to the church later for parking and the cemetery as well.

The Philadelphia Baptist Church Cemetery lies on the north side of US Highway 64W from Waynesboro. To reach the cemetery, travel north from the courthouse square in Waynesboro on highway 13 for a distance of ½ mile. Turn left to access the US64 bypass. Turn left on the bypass and travel approximately 10.2 miles. The cemetery is behind the church and was founded in 1942.

Location: Across Leatherwood Branch from Old Union Church at the end of Grady Holt’s garden. There are 10 or 12 graves marked with field stones. The stones are unreadable. Sometime ago, the name of Elizabeth Parker could be read. It was supposed that all these graves are Parkers. This family lived in the area in the 1820’s and 1830’s.

LOCATION: 1/4 mile south of the state line on the west side of Dry Branch. The Cemetery is located on a hill, just behind Mrs. OLIVE’s house.

There appear to be two more graves here marked with fieldstones with no inscriptions
