Mt. Hope Cemetery

Mt. Hope Cemetery is located on Weatherford Creek Road in Wayne County, Tennessee. To reach the cemetery from Collinwood, travel south on Tennessee 13 for approximately 4.1 miles. Turn right onto the Natchez Trace access road, then left onto the parkway. Go about 6 miles and turn right (west) onto Weatherford Creek Rd. Travel about 1.1 miles and the cemetery is on the right side of the road. It lies between Mt. Hope Church Rd. and the Mt. Hope Church of Christ just north of the Cypress Inn Fire Department.

This enumeration was begun near the northwest corner of the cemetery with Row 1 beginning about 25 yards south of the corner. There are quite a number of old graves in this cemetery dating back to an 1859-death date. Every effort has been made to list the rows in a simple manner for ease in finding graves, but as with many older cemeteries, the graves are sometimes misaligned making it difficult to do so.

Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery

LOCATION: To reach the Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery, turn onto Middle Butler Rd. which is 3.9 miles north of the Alabama/Tennessee state line on Tennessee State Highway 13. After turning onto Middle Butler Rd. travel approximately 4 miles to the church and cemetery on the right side of the road. The newer portion of the cemetery lies to the southeast of the church drive. The older portion is on a steep hill to the northwest of the church.

To reach this cemetery from Collinwood, Tennessee, travel south on Tennessee highway 13 for 4 miles, Turn right off of highway 13 and left (south) onto the Natchez Trace Parkway. Go about 2 miles and turn right onto Big Cypress Road. Go past Scotts Chapel Free Will Baptist Church and continue for 2.1 miles. The cemetery is on the left side of the road near the intersection of Big Cypress Road & J.B. Pigg Road.

This cemetery is in south/central Wayne County, Tennessee just off the Natchez Trace Parkway on Big Cypress Road. There are at least 16 graves in this cemetery marked only by fieldstones.

To reach the Cromwell Cross Roads Cemetery, from Collinwood, Tennessee, travel State Hwy. 13 south for approximately 2.1 miles. Turn right (west) onto Co. Rd. 203 and travel for approximately 5.2 miles. The cemetery is on the right side of the road beside the Cromwell Cross Roads Community Church.
This cemetery is located in western Wayne County, Tennessee in the Cromwell Cross Roads Community. It was established September 08, 1910. Ben Berry & John David Sherrill maintain the grounds. For burial information, contact Ben Berry at 1-931-724-5280 or John David Sherrill at 1-931-724-9795. The cemetery is well cared for and there is ample room for burials.

To reach the Horton Cemetery, travel Bear Creek Rd. (highway #203) west off Tennessee Highway #13. Bear Creek Rd. is south of Collinwood, Tennessee. Travel #203 for 5.2 miles to the Cromwell Crossroads community. Turn right at the Cromwell Crossroads Church onto Pea Ridge Road. This road will change to Rayburn Creek Rd. From Cromwell Crossroads, travel approximately 2.5 miles. Turn right at the cemetery sign and go approximately 1.2 miles to the cemetery. This road is a pretty rough dirt road and ends at the cemetery.

To the left there are two mounds of natural fieldstones which appear to be graves. Farther left is teh grave of a child covered with three tiers of hewn stones. No markings. On the north side of the cemetery are five graves near a very large pine tree which are marked with natural fieldstones. No inscriptions.

The Hollis Cemetery is located off Railroad Bed Rd. between Iron City and Collinwood, Tennessee. To reach the cemetery from Iron City, TN travel north on West Point Rd. for about 3/10 miles and turn left onto Railroad Bed Rd. Go approximately 4.2 miles and turn left onto Hollis Cemetery Rd. Go about .1 mile. The drive circles around the cemetery.

The oldest birth date here is that of James H. Gambill who was born 12 Dec 1818 & died 17 May 1896. There are different variations of the last name among several burial sites. There are Gambill, Gamble, Gambel, Gambrel & Gambrell. Probably, they are of the same lineage but this enumerator must record them as I see them.
