Monday Nov. 4, 1850
State of Tennessee Wayne County Be it remembered that a quorum [ quarterly-crossed out] County Court was began and held for the County of Wayne at the Courthouse in the Town of Waynesboro on the first Monday it being the 4th day of in November in the year one thousand eight hundred and fifty the following Justices Present and presiding (To wit) David J JONES Char. YOUNG [and-crossed] CARTER & CYPERT his associates

It appearing to the Court that Benjamin BROADAWAY of the State of Alabama is dead and application being made by Alfred REED to be appointed special Administrator of all and singular the goods & Chattles rights and credits of the said Dec’d in the County of Wayne & State of Tennessee and he having entered into bond in the sum of one hundred and fifty dollars with Robert REED his security which was approved of by the Court whereupon the Court ordered letters to isue to him accordingly whereupon the said REED took the necessary Oath for his qualification.

Ordered by the Court that John MONTAGUE be appointed Overseer of the road of second Class from the Florence road near James ELLIOTTs Gin to the County line towards PATTON‘s Ferry and that he James GILL & hands Axim?” & Wesley GRIFFIN Jeremiah ALISON Robert SPEAR Jas? WARRs? hands H.S. OLDSs hands William W OLDS J M BANKS C R WALKERs hands J B WALKER A HARDINs hands & A K HARDIN John MONTAGUE and hands to work under his direction Isued Nov 16th 1850

Notice was this day given to the Court that Elizabeth SHIELDS widow of John N SHIELDS would apply to the next term of this Court to have her dower allotted her of said estate

It appearing to the Court here that William HOLD late of said County is dead and relinquishment by the widow to her right of Admrship. as shown by the Oath of John HAYES and application being made by said John HAYES to have letters Testamentary granted to him upon all and singular the goods & Chattles rights and Credits of the William HOLT and he having entered into bond in the sum of two thousand with C ACKLIN & John McDOUGAL his securities which was approved of by the Court where upon the Court ordered that he have letters accordingly where upon the said John HAYES Took the necessary Oath for his qualification

Thomas A POPE vs Samuel A ANDREWS [ANDERSON- crossed out]) Petition to divide slaves and sell real estate. Came the petitioner by his attorney and it appearing to the Court from the petition sworn to and filed in this course that Samuel? A ANDREWS, Mary A. E. RENSHAW, James D ANDREWS, Sarah A. JACKSON, Harriet M ANDREWS Susan B ANDREWS Frances M ANDREWS, Thomas C. ANDREWS and Elizabeth ANDREWS are non residents of this State, Therefore Order the Clerk to have publication made with regard to said non residents in the Western Weekly Review a newspaper published in the Town of Franklin requiring said defendants to appear at the next term of this Court and plead answer or demur? to said complainants bill or the same will be taken proconfesor?

Ordered by the Court that Brinkley HOPSON Thomas LAWSON and William DAVIS freeholders & unconnected with the parties be appointed commissioners to allot and set apart to DaIannah widow of William HOLT deceased so much of the Crop stock provisions and money as shall be sufficient for the support of herself & family for one year from the death of her said husband and that they report the same to the next term of this court

Ordered by the Court that E H TURNBOUGH be appointed overseer of the Road of 2d Class in the place of A G PHEPPS and that he have the hands in the same bounds to work under his direction Isued Nov 16, 1850

Monday Nov. 6th 1850
This day D J JONES Chairman of the County Court of Wayne County by the consent of Lucinda ATWOOD the mother of William ATWOOD age about 6 years old the 11th Nov 1850 Bound unto Joseph COCKMAN said Child untell he arrives to the age of twentyone years [of age- crossed out] and said D J JONES as such Chr. & said Joseph COCKMAN entered indenters accordingly

This day D J JONES Chairman of the County Court of Wayne County by the Consent of Lucinda ATWOOD mother Mary Ann ATWOOD age 8 years the 6th Oct last bound said child to W.J. BREWER untell she arrives at the age of eighteen years old and the said D J JONES as such Chr. and the said W J BREWER entered into indentures accordingly

Came David COOK and others who were appointed at a former term of this Court commissioners to allot and set apart to the widow HARWELL one year’s provision and reported to the Court accordingly which was received by the Court and ordered to the Recorded

It appearing to the Court here that Daniel MABERRY late of said County is dead and proof being made by Abraham MABERRY in open Court that the widow relinquishes her right to Administer and request Thomas T MABERRY to Administer upon said estate And pplication[sic] being made by Thomas T MABERRY to have letter Testamentary granted to him upon all and singular the goods & Chattles rights and credits of the said deceased and he having entered into bond in the sum of one thousand dollars with Abram MABERRY his security which was approved of by the Court and ordered to be recorded whereupon the Court ordered letters to isue to him accordingly Whereupon the said Thos. T MABERRY took the necessary Oath for his qualification

Ordered by the Court that Henry CULP Thomas MONTAGUE and Josiah ROBINSON freeholders be appointed commissioners to allot and set apart to the widow of Thomas MABERRY dec’d so much of the stock Crop provision or monies as shall be sufficient for the support of herself and family for one year from the death of her said husband Isued Nov 4, 1850

Monday Sept. 2d 1850
Came Wm R BELL who has this day been constituted and appointed Guardian to May Ann Elizabeth GRIMES minor heir of Henry GRIMES dec’d and entered into bond in the sum of two thousand dollars with C B McLEAN his security conditioned for the faithful performance of his said Guardianship which as approved of by the Court and ordered to be recorded Whereupon the said Wm R BELL took the necessary oath for his qualification.

Came E B PLUMMER who has this day been appointed Administrator of all and singular the goods and Chattles rights & credits of Wm H HARWELL dec’d and entered in to bond in the sum of one thousand dollars with Wm HAWK and John McDOUGAL his securities conditioned for the faithful performance of his said administrationship which was approved of by the court and ordered to be recorded Whereupon the said E B PLUMMER took the necessary oath for his qualification.

Ordered by the Court that David COOK, Allen ETHRIDGE, & J J DOWNING be appointed commissioners to allot and set apart to Nancy E Widow of Wm H HARWELL dec’d so much of the Crop Stock monies provisions &c sufficient for the support of herself and family for twelve months from the death of her said husband and that they report the same to the next term of this Court Issued Sept 2, 1850.

Came C B McLEAN Administrator of the estate of Henry GRIMES Dec’d and returned into Court an Inventory & Account of sale verified by the oath which was received and ordered to be recorded.

Ordered by the Court that Berry W DANIEL be appointed overseer of the road of 2d Class in the place of Wm WILLBANKS and that he have the hands in the same bounds to work under his direction Issued Sept 28th 1850.

It appearing to the Court here that Jacob STRICKLIN late of said County is dead and have made no last will and testament in writing and Thomas CHRISTIAN making application to have letters testamentary granted to him upon and singular the goods & Chattles rights& Credits of the said Jacob STRICKLIN dec’d and he having given bond and security as is by law in such cases required it is ordered by the Court that he have letter accordingly Where upon the said Thomas CHRISTIAN took the necessary oath for his qualification.

Ordered by the Court that David VOORHIES, W B SKILLERN and G I WALKER freeholders be appointed Commissioners to allot and set apart to Sarah Widow of Jacob STRICKLIN dec’d so much of the Stock Crop provision & money as shall be sufficient for the support of herself & family for one year from the death of her said husband. Issued Sept 2, 1850
