Sims, Lyford

Lyford SimsSIMS, Lyford, was born 26 March 1894, Wayne County, Tennessee, the son of William Clay (Willie) SIMS (15 Nov 1862 – 27 Nov 1949) and Mary KING. He was inducted November 1917 and was sent to Camp Gordon, GA where he became ill and died on 10 Jan 1918. His illness was diagnosed as side pleurisy. His body was brought back to Wayne County, Tennessee and he was buried at the King Cemetery on Waterfall Branch of Indian Creek.

His siblings were Lillie SIMS who married Joe HARDIN; Laura SIMS; Lester SIMS who married Lela NOWLIN (parents of the late Milburn King SIMS of Waynesboro); Lola SIMS; who married Watt HARDIN; Lawrence King SIMS; Annie Brown SIMS who married Kinney MOORE; Maudie SIMS who married Homer MERRIMAN; and William R. SIMS, who married Frances SLAUGHTER.
