Court June 1850

Monday June 3, 1850

State of Tennessee Wayne County be it remembered that a quorum County Court was began and held for the County of Wayne at the Court house in the Town of Waynesboro on the 3rd day it being the first Monday in June in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred& fifty The following Justice present and presiding (to wit) D J JONES Chr. YOUNG and LAFFERTY his associates

This day came John G HILL Administrator of all and singular the goods & chattles rights and credis[?] of the Estate of Thomas BURGESS deceased and suggested in writing in open Court the insolvency of said Estate alledging that the assets that had came to his hands possession or knowledge were in sufficient to pay the debts against said Estate It is therefore ordered by the Court that the Clerk of this Court make such publication as is by law required [for-crossed out] and that notice be given to all persons to whom said estate is indebted to file their claims duly authenticated with the Clerk of this Court on or before the 1st day of December next for prorate distribution as the law in such cases requires or they will be forever bound

Ordered by the Court that Michael CHOAT be appointed overseer of the road of 2d Class in the place of E F DODSON and that he have the hands in the same bounds to work under his direction Isued June 5, 1850

Ordered by the Court that C M BROWN be appointed overseer of the road of 2d Class in the place of C B McCULLEY and that he have the hands in the same bounds to work under his direction Isued June 5th 1850

 Monday June 3rd 1850

Ordered by the Court that Washington REED be appointed overseer of the road of 2d Class in the place of Henry PIGG and that he have the hands in the same bounds to work under his direction Isued June 5, 1850

It appearing to the Court that Elizabeth LOYD late of said county is dead and having made not last will and testament in writing and her next of kin failing to apply for letters of Administration And application being made by James ANDERSON a creditor of said Estate for letters of Administration and he having Entered into bond in the sum of Eight hundred dollars with A T HASSELL and Henry MORRIS his securities Conditioned for the faithful performance of said Administration and he having taken the necessary oath required by Law it is ordered by the Court that he have letters accordingly

It appearing to the Court that Jesse COPELAND late of said County is dead and having made not last will in writing and the widow foling[?] to apply for Letters of Administration And application being made by James ANDERSON a creditor of said estate to have letters of Administration granted to him upon all and singular the goods and chattles rights and credits of the said deceased and he having entered into bond in the sum of two hundred dollars with A T HASSELL and Henry MORRIS conditioned for the faithful performance of said Administrationship [and-crossed out] the Court ordered Letters to issue to him accordingly whereupon the said James ANDERSON took the necessary oath for his qualification

Came James WARR [who-crossed out] was on the 20th day of April last duly elected a Justice of the peace for Wayne County by the qualified Voters of the 14th Civil district thereof and presented to the Court his Commission whereupon the said James WARR took the necessary oaths for his qualification

Ordered by the Court that John CANTRELL be appointed overseer of the road of 2d Class in the place of King BREWER and that he have the hands in the same bounds to work under his direction Isued June 5th 1850

 Monday June 3rd 1850

Came A B GANT one of the executors of the last will and testament of Hiram ROBERTS dec’d and returned into Court and Inventory of said estate verefied by his Oath

A settlement between Wm JONES Clerk of this Court and M.H. BURK Guar of Lewis TILLINAN [should be TILLMAN] was this day submitted to the court which was confirmed by the Court [which-crossed out] and ordered to be recorded

A settlement between Wm JONES Clerk of this Court and M H BURK Guardian of John TILLMAN was this day submitted to the Court which was received by the Court and ordered to be recorded

A settlement between Wm JONES Clerk of this Court and M H BURKS Guardian of Daniel TILLMAN was this day submitted to the Court which was confirmed by the court and ordered to be recorded

A settlement between Wm JONES Clerk of this Court and M H BURK Guardian of G L TILLMAN was this day submitted to the Court which was confirmed by the Court and ordered to be recorded

Ordered by the Court that James MOORE by appointed overseer of the road of 2d Class in the place of John HAYES and that he have the hands in the same bounds to work under his direction Isued June 5, 1850
