To the left there are two mounds of natural fieldstones which appear to be graves. Farther left is teh grave of a child covered with three tiers of hewn stones. No markings. On the north side of the cemetery are five graves near a very large pine tree which are marked with natural fieldstones. No inscriptions.

Graves behind Henry Roberson House

Location: South of teh Pumping Station Road, on Little Cypress Creek

According to the late Mr. Henry Roberson there were three graves behind his house. Mr. Roberson stated in my interview with him and his wife viola in 1971, that there were two graves on the north side of his barn and one on the south side. He did know who was buried in the unmarked graves.

Henry Culp Family Plot

Location: In the Long Hollow on Little Beech Creek

Culp, Henry, Jr. 1802-1887 (He first married a Robertson. They had children: Anderson, Allen, Frank, Hartwell, John, Amos, Betty, Miranda, Elizabeth, and Polly. They may have been others. The first wife is buried at Zion Church.)                                                                             Culp, Elizabeth Briley Crossno 1825-1891 (She first married Elijah Crossno. Their children were Fannie who married Tom Mayberry, Eliza who married Allen Culp, her step brother; and a boy, Whitfield Crossno. Henry, Jr. and Elizabeth (Betsy) married in the late 1840s. Their children were Tin, Jim M., Dona who married Robert (Buddy) Denton, Matilda who married John Denton, Sally Matt who married a Chappell and William Buchanan (Buck).)                                              Culp, Amos 1865-1870.

In this family plot were found 27 additional filed stones plus the ones listed below with only initials and dates.

Holt Cemetery

Resurveyed and submitted by Thomas A. Holt, 1989.

Location: About 1000 feet north of BM 753 NASH, and 1000 feet south of the intersection of Cypress Creek Road and Hayes Branch Road. The cemetery is approximately 1500 west of the Natchez Trace Parkway.

This cemetery was originally surveyed in 1971 and was published in Wayne County, Tennessee Cemetery And Dead Records as cemetery #114, page 199. When the cemetery was initially surveyed, the visible area of the cemetery consisted of a small plot of land surrounded by a wire fence. Since that time Thomas A. Holt has restored the cemetery to its original boundaries, installed a concrete and block wall around the cemetery, and located two additional tombstones. The first stone located in the process of restoring the cemetery was that of Hetty C. Stribling; the other was that of Sarah Cate Berry Pigg, better known as “Granny” Pigg.

Anderson Davis-Calvin Holt Cemetery

Location: 1/2 mile west of Old Union Church on Beech Creek

Anderson Davis was one of the early pioneers of Wayne County. He and his wife came to Tennessee at an early age with their parents from Virginia and North Carolina respectively. He bought up the largest portion of upper Beech Creek in the 1830s-1850s. Ten children were born to Anderson and Litton Davis. Many of their descendants still reside in the area of Upper Beech Creek. Anderson Davis was a community worker. He donated land for the Old Union Community Building on 14 Nov 1859 and also for various cemeteries, including this one.
