Highland – Thursday morning at 3:30 o’clock following a lingering illness. A native of Sevier county, Tenn., Mr. Bales was born June 15,1868.  His parents were Samuel Bales and Katherine Hickman Bales.  He had resided in Warren county for several years.  Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Nobla Bales; six daughters, Mrs. John H. Barnes, Mrs. Arsey Gross, Mrs. Escle Curtis, Mrs. Herman Starkey, Mrs. Arlle Potter and Miss Winnie Inez Bales, all of McMinnville.  Arrangements were by High Funeral Home.
