Dickerson D. Austin was born 1798 in Albermale County, Virginia. He is the son of Thomas Austin and Frances Elizabeth Dickerson. Dickerson died February 28, 1876 in Sumner County, Tennessee. He married twice, first to Sally Hall and second to Emily Berry Anderson. Sally Hall died before 1835. Emily Berry Anderson was born November 24, 1815 in Tn. Emily died June 14, 1880 in Sumner County, Tennessee. Emily is the daughter of James M. Anderson and Elizabeth Hudson Nimmo.

Dickerson D. Austin and Sally Hall had the following child:

1. Sarah "Sally" Austin was born December 20, 1828. She died December 24, 1887. Sarah married 1st to John Austin Anderson on December 30, 1849 in Sumner County, Tennessee. She married 2nd to William Alfred Butt. For more information see the John Anderson contribution.

Dickerson D. Austin and Emily Berry Anderson had the following children:

   Mary Elizabeth Austin was born February 10, 1838, she died June 18, 1919. Mary is buried at Bethpage Cemetery, Sumner County, Tennessee. Mary married Robert F. Payne on October 28, 1858 in Sumner County, Tennessee. For more information see the Robert Payne contribution.
