Located on the hill behind 321 Highway 394, the cemetery has been mowed and kept, but many stones are now broken and have fallen over. There are nine fieldstones or illegible stones.

Additional information

From the Elizabethtown Republican newspaper, dated 20 Sept. 1876: “Died wed. 13 Sept. 1876 near Powell’s station, Mrs. Mary S. Barger, wife of Nicholas Barger Sr. born in Knox Co. on 11 Sept. 1797. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church at Ebenezer.”

The Presbyterian Church at Ebenezer was in Elizabethton. Both Nicholas and wife, Mary are reported to be buried here in the Wolford Cemetery in unmarked graves.

  1. I am trying to find out who were Margaret Wolford Powell’s parents. She was the wife of Robert Powell and I believe she was the mother of Louisa Powell Smith Etherton who died in 1880 in Sevier County.
